Speeding up column generation for robust wireless network planning

open access: yesEURO Journal on Computational Optimization, 2013
The wireless network planning problem consists of base station placement and traffic node assignment to base stations. To incorporate traffic demand uncertainties, we follow the Γ-robustness approach by Bertsimas and Sim.

Plecstatin inhibits hepatocellular carcinoma tumorigenesis and invasion through cytolinker plectin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The ruthenium‐based metallodrug plecstatin exerts its anticancer effect in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) primarily through selective targeting of plectin. By disrupting plectin‐mediated cytoskeletal organization, plecstatin inhibits anchorage‐dependent growth, cell polarization, and tumor cell dissemination.

Dynamic Generation of Cutting Patterns in Sawmills for Sustainable Planning

open access: yesMathematics
This study proposes two optimization models and a column-generation algorithm, applied at the root node, to support tactical planning in sawmills by dynamically generating log cutting patterns aligned with sustainability and efficiency objectives ...

Column generation algorithms for bi-objective combinatorial optimization problems with a min–max objective

open access: yesEURO Journal on Computational Optimization, 2018
Many practical combinatorial optimization problems can be described by integer linear programs having an exponential number of variables, and they are efficiently solved by column generation algorithms.

Peroxidasin enables melanoma immune escape by inhibiting natural killer cell cytotoxicity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Peroxidasin (PXDN) is secreted by melanoma cells and binds the NK cell receptor NKG2D, thereby suppressing NK cell activation and cytotoxicity. PXDN depletion restores NKG2D signaling and enables effective NK cell–mediated melanoma killing. These findings identify PXDN as a previously unrecognized immune evasion factor and a potential target to improve

Introducing new constructs for data modelling and column generation in LP modelling languages [PDF]

open access: yes, 1993
Through popular implementation of structured query language (SQL) and query-by-example(QBE) relational databases have become the de-facto industry standard for data modelling. We consider the indices, sets, and the declarative form of Linear Programming ...

Crucial parameters for precise copy number variation detection in formalin‐fixed paraffin‐embedded solid cancer samples

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study shows that copy number variations (CNVs) can be reliably detected in formalin‐fixed paraffin‐embedded (FFPE) solid cancer samples using ultra‐low‐pass whole‐genome sequencing, provided that key (pre)‐analytical parameters are optimized.

Models and algorithms for Integration of Vehicle and Crew Scheduling [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper deals with models, relaxations and algorithms for an integrated approach to vehicle and crew scheduling. We discuss potential benefits of integration and provide an overview of the literature, which considers mainly partial integration.

Phenotypic and genotypic characterization of single circulating tumor cells in the follow‐up of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Single circulating tumor cells (sCTCs) from high‐grade serous ovarian cancer patients were enriched, imaged, and genomically profiled using WGA and NGS at different time points during treatment. sCTCs revealed enrichment of alterations in Chromosomes 2, 7, and 12 as well as persistent or emerging oncogenic CNAs, supporting sCTC identity.

Combining antibody conjugates with cytotoxic and immune‐stimulating payloads maximizes anti‐cancer activity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Methods to improve antibody–drug conjugate (ADC) treatment durability in cancer therapy are needed. We utilized ADCs and immune‐stimulating antibody conjugates (ISACs), which are made from two non‐competitive antibodies, to enhance the entry of toxic payloads into cancer cells and deliver immunostimulatory agents into immune cells.
