Single Domain Antibodies as New Biomarker Detectors

open access: yesDiagnostics, 2017
Biomarkers are defined as indicators of biological processes, pathogenic processes, or pharmacological responses to a therapeutic intervention. Biomarkers have been widely used for early detection, prediction of response after treatment, and for ...

Interaction vesicles as emerging mediators of host‐pathogen molecular crosstalk and their implications for infection dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Interaction extracellular vesicles (iEVs) are hybrid vesicles formed through host‐pathogen communication. They facilitate immune evasion, transfer pathogens' molecules, increase host cell uptake, and enhance virulence. This Perspective article illustrates the multifunctional roles of iEVs and highlights their emerging relevance in infection dynamics ...

B cell mechanobiology in health and disease: emerging techniques and insights into therapeutic responses

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
B cells sense external mechanical forces and convert them into biochemical signals through mechanotransduction. Understanding how malignant B cells respond to physical stimuli represents a groundbreaking area of research. This review examines the key mechano‐related molecules and pathways in B lymphocytes, highlights the most relevant techniques to ...

Quasi-combinatorial energy landscapes for nanoalloy structure optimisation. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
We formulate nanoalloy structure prediction as a mixed-variable optimisation problem, where the homotops can be associated with an effective, quasi-combinatorial energy landscape in permutation space.

A Dual Bioconjugated Virus-Like Nanoparticle as a Drug Delivery System and Comparison with a pH-Responsive Delivery System

open access: yesNanomaterials, 2018
Modifications of virus-like nanoparticles (VLNPs) using chemical conjugation techniques have brought the field of virology closer to nanotechnology. The huge surface area to volume ratio of VLNPs permits multiple copies of a targeting ligand and drugs to

The thioredoxin‐like and one glutaredoxin domain are required to rescue the iron‐starvation phenotype of HeLa GLRX3 knock out cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Glutaredoxin (Grx) 3 proteins contain a thioredoxin domain and one to three class II Grx domains. These proteins play a crucial role in iron homeostasis in eukaryotic cells. In human Grx3, at least one of the two Grx domains, together with the thioredoxin domain, is essential for its function in iron metabolism.

High-throughput in-situ characterization and modelling of precipitation kinetics in compositionally graded alloys

open access: yes, 2015
The development of new engineering alloy chemistries is a time consuming and iterative process. A necessary step is characterization of the nano/microstructure to provide a link between the processing and properties of each alloy chemistry considered ...
