The skills required for transition to university and study in biological sciences: A student perspective

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Bioscience students were asked for their opinions on the value and teaching of skills. 204 responded that teamwork, time management and study skills are necessary to reach University, that scientific writing, research, laboratory and presentation skills are taught effectively during their studies, while other skills are gained inherently through study ...

Algorithmic Verification of Recursive Probabilistic State Machines [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Recursive Markov Chains (RMCs) ([EY05]) are a natural abstract model of procedural probabilistic programs and related systems involving recursion and probability.

Variable Length Memory Chains: Characterization of stationary probability measures

open access: yes, 2021
International audienceVariable Length Memory Chains (VLMC), which are generalizations of finite order Markov chains, are an essential tool to modelize random sequences in many domains, as well as an interesting object in contemporary probability theory ...

Blood‐based proteomic profiling reveals context‐dependent changes in BCL2‐associated signaling during taxane therapy in breast cancer patients

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Chemotherapy side effects significantly impact cancer survivors' quality of life. Using protein levels in blood samples from breast cancer patients before and after 12 weeks of taxane treatment, we detected treatment‐dependent changes in calcium signaling and aging pathways associated with cancer recurrence.

Molecular dynamics simulations of positively selected codons in FcγRI reveal novel biochemical binding properties

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Evolutionary analysis across 32 placental mammals identified positive selection at residues H148 and W149 in the immune receptor FcγR1. Ancestral reconstruction combined with molecular dynamics simulations reveals how these mutations may influence receptor structure and dynamics, providing insight into the evolution of antibody recognition and immune ...

Irreducibility of combinatorial objects : asymptotic probability and interpretation

open access: yes, 2022
Dans notre recherche, nous traitons de divers objets combinatoires. Certains d'entre eux sont irréductibles, d'autres sont construits à partir d'irréductibles, soit en utilisant des constructions combinatoires dans la méthode symbolique, soit à l'aide de

A New Triangular Probability Model: A Combinatorial Modification of Probability Distributions

open access: yesAfrican Journal of Mathematics and Statistics Studies
The paper projects innovating means to probability modeling using integration method and the concept of normalization. It brings to light a probability distribution obtained by combining a probability density function of a distribution and a cumulative distribution function of another continuous probability model, to produce a triangular trend and a ...

Guiding AlphaFold to predict how Munc13‐1 opens Syntaxin‐1

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The syntaxin‐1 Habc‐domain (orange), linker (pink) and SNARE motif (yellow) form a closed conformation that binds to Munc18‐1 (violet) and is opened by the Munc13‐1 MUN domain (cyan) to form the SNARE complex that triggers neurotransmitter release.

Trust-Based Mechanisms for Robust and Efficient Task Allocation in the Presence of Execution Uncertainty [PDF]

open access: yes
Vickrey-Clarke-Groves (VCG) mechanisms are often used to allocate tasks to selfish and rational agents. VCG mechanisms are incentive-compatible, direct mechanisms that are efficient (i.e. maximise social utility) and individually rational (i.e.

Prognostic Impact of European LeukemiaNet Genetic Risk Stratification System in Adult Patients With Acute Myeloid Leukemia

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
This study aimed to evaluate the prognostic value of ELN2017 in predicting survival outcomes and to assess the impact of clinical and molecular factors such as age, FLT3 and NPM1 mutations, and allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo‐HSCT).
