Sepsis and survival in critically ill calves: Risk factors and antimicrobial use

open access: yesJournal of Veterinary Internal Medicine, Volume 37, Issue 1, Page 374-389, January/February 2023., 2023
Abstract Background Sepsis is a life‐threatening disease for which critically important antimicrobials (CIA) frequently are used. Diagnostic and therapeutic guidelines for sepsis and critically ill calves are largely lacking. Objectives Identify factors associated with mortality in critically ill calves and describe bacteria obtained from blood ...

Cortactin: A universal host cytoskeletal target of Gram‐negative and Gram‐positive bacterial pathogens

open access: yesMolecular Microbiology, Volume 118, Issue 6, Page 623-636, December 2022., 2022
In host‐pathogen interactions, actin‐cytoskeletal dynamics play a crucial role in successful adherence, invasion, and intracellular motility by many intruding microbes. To achieve this goal, bacterial pathogens target major host regulators, one of which is the key actin‐binding protein and class‐II actin nucleation‐promoting factor cortactin.

Prospects for the In Situ detection of Comet C/2019 Y4 ATLAS by Solar Orbiter [PDF]

open access: yesRes. Notes AAS (2020) 4, 62, 2020
The European Space Agency's Solar Orbiter spacecraft will pass approximately downstream of the position of comet C/2019 Y4 (ATLAS) in late May and early June 2020. We predict that the spacecraft may encounter the comet's ion tail around 2020 May 31-June 1, and that the comet's dust tail may be crossed on 2020 June 6.
