sox19 regulates ovarian steroidogenesis in common carp

The Journal of Steroid Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, 2022
In teleost, ovarian steroidogenesis governed by the neuroendocrine system is also regulated by several transcription factors of gonadal origin. Investigating the synchronized interactions between the transcriptional and the hormonal factors is vital to comprehend the mechanisms that lead to gonadal differentiation.

Primary structure of common carp prolactins

General and Comparative Endocrinology, 1987
The complete amino acid sequence of common carp (Cyprinus carpio) prolactin (PRL) has been determined. One milligram of carp PRL was reduced, carboxymethylated, and then cleaved with cyanogen bromide and several enzymes. Another milligram of carp PRL was digested with lysyl endopeptidase.

Susceptibility of Koi Carp, Common Carp, Goldfish, and Goldfish × Common Carp Hybrids to Cyprinid Herpesvirus-2 and Herpesvirus-3

Journal of Aquatic Animal Health, 2006
Abstract Hybrid goldfish (male goldfish Carassius auratus × female common carp Cyprinus carpio) were completely resistant to mortality following experimental infections with cyprinid herpesvirus-2 (CyHV-2) and moderately resistant to cyprinid herpesvirus-3 (CyHV-3).

Comparative experiments on starter diets for grass carp and common carp

Aquaculture, 1988
Abstract The influence of different compound diets and live zooplankton on growth and survival of two species of cyprinid larvae was compared. In common carp larvae fed exclusively on dry diets high mortality occurred in most cases; exceptions were fish fed Ewos C 20 starter diet (12%).

Cross‐species amplification in silver carp and bighead carp with microsatellite primers of common carp

Molecular Ecology Notes, 2002
AbstractAbout a third of microsatellite primers designed for common carp (Cyprinus carpio) was successfully amplified in silver carp (Hypophthalmichthys molitrix) and bighead carp (Aristichthys nobilis). These markers, inherited in Mendelian mode, are of potential applications in cypinid genetics.

Carp edema virus from three genogroups is present in common carp in Hungary

Journal of Fish Diseases, 2017
AbstractHungary is an important carp producer with intensive trading relationships with farms in other carp‐producing areas in Europe. Carp in Europe were recently found infected with carp edema virus (CEV), a poxvirus which causes the koi sleepy disease (KSD) syndrome.

COPPER, CORTISOL AND THE COMMON CARP

Journal of Experimental Biology, 2003
![Figure][1] Copper is an essential element needed for many physiological processes. But at high concentrations copper is toxic, so homeostatic mechanisms are required to regulate internal levels of copper.

Cold shocks: a stressor for common carp

Journal of Fish Biology, 2000
The stress response of common carp Cyprinus carpio was studied by evaluating plasma cortisol, glucose and lactate after single or multiple rapid temperature drops (ΔT: 7, 9 or 11° C). All three amplitudes used induced a significant rise in plasma cortisol levels. Peaks occurred within 20 min after onset of the cold shock.
