The Climate Niche Pressure on the Yunnan–Guizhou Plateau Predominates the Diversification of Advertisement Calls in Frogs (Leptobrachella)

open access: yesIntegrative Zoology, EarlyView.
The diversification of advertisement calls is largely driven by climatic niche differentiation. Our results provide acoustic evidence for studies on ecological speciation in anurans.

The Wonder Years: A Demographic Approach to Revisit the Age‐at‐Size Conundrum in Amphibians

open access: yesIntegrative Zoology, EarlyView.
We combined repeated body size measurements of marked individuals of unknown age throughout their adult life with growth records of individuals marked as postmetamorphic juveniles and recaptured years later as sexually mature adults, focusing on 10 amphibian species in central Spain.

Warm Spring Weather Alters Calling Phenology of Four Sympatric Early‐Breeding Anurans

open access: yesIntegrative Zoology, EarlyView.
An unusually warm March in 2024 (“false spring”) followed by freezing temperatures allowed us to assess the impact of a weather event on an amphibian community. The calling activity of all four species was associated with increasing temperature, and the first date of calling was advanced by 11–18 days.

BirdNET: Automated Detection for Monitoring Critically Endangered Lemurs from the Maromizaha Forest

open access: yesIntegrative Zoology, EarlyView.
In this study, we evaluated the effectiveness of integrating PAM with BirdNET, a convolutional neural network originally developed for avian vocalization detection, to monitor two critically endangered lemurs, Indri indri and Varecia variegata, in Madagascar's Maromizaha rainforest.

A Novel Antioxidant Peptide Cath‐Np Derived from Nanorana parkeri Attenuates UVB‐Induced Skin Photodamage in Mice

open access: yesIntegrative Zoology, EarlyView.
Schematic representation of Cath‐Np as an antioxidant suppressing acute skin damage caused by ultraviolet B (UVB) radiation in mice. Cath‐Np inhibits the activation of p53 and mitogen‐activated protein kinase pathways while it activates the Nrf2 pathway by its strong antioxidant effects, and accordingly suppresses the expression of inflammatory factors

Sex Role–Dependent Behavioral and Architectural Divergence in a Jumping Spider

open access: yesIntegrative Zoology, EarlyView.
The graphical abstract contrasts sex‐equivalent cognition (route‐planning & memory) with female‐biased nest architecture. Both sexes perform similarly in cognitive tests, but females build complex, geometry‐matching nests while males make simple shelters.
