An adaptive current controller for reduction of commutation torque ripple in a sensorless BLDC drive

Proceedings of the International Conference & Workshop on Emerging Trends in Technology - ICWET '11, 2011
This paper describes the reduction in torque ripple due to phase commutation of brushless dc motors. The torque ripple at low speeds is reduced by dual switching mode with 120° switching. In this paper an adaptive hysteresis current controller is proposed to eliminate harmonics and to compensate reactive power of VSI fed BLDC drive.

Analysis of commutation torque ripple of BLDC motors and a simple method for its reduction

Proceedings of the 2011 International Conference on Electrical Engineering and Informatics, 2011
This paper presents methods for analyzing and reducing commutation torque ripple of brushless DC (BLDC) motors in 120° elec. conduction mode. Due to voltage vector changes in every 60° elec. in BLDC drives, the current is commutated from one phase to another which results in electromagnetic torque fluctuations called commutation torque ripple.

Improved Control of BLDCM Considering Commutation Torque Ripple and Commutation Time in Full Speed Range

IEEE Transactions on Power Electronics, 2018
The three phases of brushless dc motor (BLDCM) are involved in energy conversion during the commutation interval. A novel commutation analysis method of the BLDCM based on coordinate transformation theory is proposed in this paper, though this coordinate transformation theory is popular in the control of three-phase sinusoidal motors, such as induction

Efficient Commutation and Torque Ripples Minimization in BLDC Motor for Hoist Applications

2018 International Conference on Control, Power, Communication and Computing Technologies (ICCPCCT), 2018
Brushless dc motors rotor has permanent magnet which rotate around fixed armature. The current in armature is commutated to give rise to rotation. The commutation angle error reduces the efficiency and performance of the motor. The back EMF waveforms are taken based on the relationship between commutation point shift and the difference of the dc-link ...

A Novel Method of Commutation Torque Ripple Reduction for BLDC with Charged Capacitor

2018 37th Chinese Control Conference (CCC), 2018
This paper presents a novel topology circuit to reduce the commutation torque ripple for brush1ess de motor(BLDCM). The topology circuit is composed of a unique capacitor, a switch circuit, a diode and a resistor. In the normal conduction period, the capacitor is charged, once the commutation occurs, the capacitor voltage is immediately added on the ...

Commutation torque ripple reduction in high-speed brushless DC motor

2017 International Symposium on Electrical Machines (SME), 2017
The simple method of commutation torque ripple reduction in the high-speed (10000 rpm) brushless DC motor is presented in this paper. In this method hysteresis controllers of motor currents are used. The goal of work was to develop a control algorithm that could be implemented in the popular and cheap STM32 family of microcontrollers (ST ...

Compensation method for commutation torque ripple reduction of BLDC motor with misaligned hall sensors

IECON 2017 - 43rd Annual Conference of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society, 2017
Ideal Hall sensors installation interval is 120° electrical angle, however, the inevitable mechanical installation error may cause Hall signals delay or advance, aggravating seriously electromagnetic torque ripple. This paper presents a novel compensation method for commutation torque ripple reduction of Brushless DC motor (BLDC motor) with misaligned ...

Commutation torque ripple suppression strategy for brushless DC motors with commutation time in multiples of PWM period

2017 IEEE International Electric Machines and Drives Conference (IEMDC), 2017
In this paper, a commutation torque ripple suppression strategy is proposed with commutation time in multiples of PWM period. Firstly, the commutation time of different modulation strategies required to suppress commutation torque ripple is analyzed, and the main factors that influence commutation time are pointed out.
