Analysis of torque ripple in BLDC motor with commutation time
ISIE 2001. 2001 IEEE International Symposium on Industrial Electronics Proceedings (Cat. No.01TH8570), 2002Torque ripple generated in the commutation period is the main drawback of the brushless DC (BLDC) motor, which deteriorates its precision. Many methods to solve this problem have been studied. In many control methods, torque ripple reduction was considered at the point of current control, which means that if current can be controlled properly, the BLDC

Commutation torque ripple reduction in high-speed brushless DC motor
2017 International Symposium on Electrical Machines (SME), 2017The simple method of commutation torque ripple reduction in the high-speed (10000 rpm) brushless DC motor is presented in this paper. In this method hysteresis controllers of motor currents are used. The goal of work was to develop a control algorithm that could be implemented in the popular and cheap STM32 family of microcontrollers (ST ...

A balanced commutator for switched reluctance motors to reduce torque ripple
IEEE Transactions on Power Electronics, 1992A method of computing the reference currents for current tracking feedback control, called a balanced commutator, is presented. For a given motor, this commutator reduces the peaks and the rates of change of the reference currents. Although primarily intended for lower-speed direct-drive applications, the commutator design allows accurate current ...

Reduction of commutation torque ripple in a brushless DC motor drive
2008 IEEE 2nd International Power and Energy Conference, 2008This paper describes the reduction in torque ripple due to phase commutation of brushless dc motors. With two-phase 120deg electrical conduction for the inverter connected to the conventional three-phase BLDC machine, the commutation torque ripple occurs at every 60 electrical degrees when a change over from one phase to another occurs.

Commutation Torque Ripple Restraint in BLDC Motor over Whole Speed Range
2005 International Conference on Electrical Machines and Systems, 2005The un-commutated phase current of the brushless DC motor (BLDCM) is distorted during phase current commutation intervals, the distortion results in commutation torque ripples. This paper proposes a novel control method to restrain the commutation torque ripple according to different speed ranges. In the proposed method, the un-commutated phase current

A new method for reducing commutation torque ripples in bldc motors
Journal of Shanghai University (English Edition), 2001A new compensation method and an algorithm for compensating for the commutation torque ripples of the trapezoidal EMF brushless DC motor are put forward. Simulation and experimental results show that this method is correct and practical.

The three phases of brushless dc motor (BLDCM) are involved in energy conversion during the commutation interval. A novel commutation analysis method of the BLDCM based on coordinate transformation theory is proposed in this paper, though this coordinate transformation theory is popular in the control of three-phase sinusoidal motors, such as induction

Commutation torque ripple reduction in brushless DC motor using modified SEPIC converter
2015 IEEE 11th International Conference on Power Electronics and Drive Systems, 2015Brushless DC Motor (BLDCM) drives, widely used in high performance applications where torque smoothness is essential, suffers from severe torque ripples. For BLDC motors, torque ripple is an important origin of acoustic noise, vibration and speed fluctuation.

Efficient Commutation and Torque Ripples Minimization in BLDC Motor for Hoist Applications
2018 International Conference on Control, Power, Communication and Computing Technologies (ICCPCCT), 2018Brushless dc motors rotor has permanent magnet which rotate around fixed armature. The current in armature is commutated to give rise to rotation. The commutation angle error reduces the efficiency and performance of the motor. The back EMF waveforms are taken based on the relationship between commutation point shift and the difference of the dc-link ...

Conference Record 2009 IEEE Industrial & Commercial Power Systems Technical Conference, 2009Torque ripple generated in the commutation interval is one of the main drawbacks of Brushless DC (BLDC) motors. This paper presents an comprehensive analysis on the generated torque ripples of trapezoidal back-EMF due to phase commutation in the six switch, three-phase inverter brushless dc motor drives. Experimental results verify the amplitude of the
