Torque Ripple Minimization in Switched Reluctance Motor by Optimal Commutation Strategy Using a Novel Reference Torque

Electric Power Components and Systems, 2002
Torque ripple control of switched reluctance motor has been the main issue in the application of this motor. Conventional proportional plus integration, proportional plus integration and differentiation, variable structure proportional plus integration, and recently, feed-back linearization control techniques with number of reference torques have been ...

A precise analysis of the phase commutation for the torque nonlinear control of a switched reluctance motor - torque ripples minimization

Proceedings of IECON '93 - 19th Annual Conference of IEEE Industrial Electronics, 2002
Because of its geometric and electromagnetic structure, the switched reluctance motor (SRM) naturally creates torque ripples during the commutation of the currents from one supply phase to another. We show in the paper that classical linear controllers cannot eliminate these torque pulsations.

A Novel Self Correction Torque and Commutation Ripples Reduction in BLDC Motor

2018
Brushless DC motor has permanent magnets in the rotor side that rotates around fixed armature. The current rotates in armature continuously as it is electronically commutated. The motor’s efficiency will otherwise reduce due to commutation angle errors. The novelty of the work is to reduce commutation errors that are obtained based on commutation point

A Novel Commutation Torque Ripple Suppression Scheme in BLDCM by Sensing the DC Current

2005 IEEE 36th Power Electronics Specialists Conference, 2005
The paper presents a novel commutation torque ripple suppression scheme in BLDCM. In the proposed method based on the DC current sensing, smooth commutation is realized by combining two effective measures with together. The two methods are commutation current prediction method and the negative DC current elimination scheme.

A novel predicted current control scheme of BLDCMs for commutation torque ripple reduction

2015 18th International Conference on Electrical Machines and Systems (ICEMS), 2015
Commutation torque ripple of BLDCMs is still the main problem of the precise application. This paper presents a simple predicted the current control scheme of BLDCMs(Brushless DC Motors) during commutation region to reduce commutation torque ripple. The proposed method uses a predicted current slope and variations during commutation region. To keep the

Torque ripple reduction of BLDC motors by modifying the non-commutating phase voltage

International Conference on Electrical, Control and Computer Engineering 2011 (InECCE), 2011
This paper presents a method for commutation torque ripple reduction in brushless DC motor (BLDCM) drives. Commutation torque ripple depends on the current ripple. In the proposed method, by adding an extra voltage source to the non-commutating phase, current ripple and so commutation torque ripple is suppressed. The current ripple of BLDC motor in 120°

A new method to reduce both conduction and commutation torque ripple for BLDC machines

2014 17th International Conference on Electrical Machines and Systems (ICEMS), 2014
To reduce torque ripple of BLDC machines, a method using the new DC-DC converter is proposed in this paper. The converter can switch its output to low or high voltage. The adjustable low voltage is used to regulate the motor speed, which can replace the switch chopping control for the inverter to reduce the conduction torque ripple.

Analysis of commutation torque ripple using different PWM modes in BLDC motors

Conference Record 2009 IEEE Industrial & Commercial Power Systems Technical Conference, 2009
Torque ripple generated in the commutation interval is one of the main drawbacks of Brushless DC (BLDC) motors. This paper presents an comprehensive analysis on the generated torque ripples of trapezoidal back-EMF due to phase commutation in the six switch, three-phase inverter brushless dc motor drives. Experimental results verify the amplitude of the
