Aldehyde dehydrogenase 1A1 (ALDH1A1) is a cancer stem cell marker in several malignancies. We established a novel epithelial cell line from rectal adenocarcinoma with unique overexpression of this enzyme. Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 led to increased invasive capacity and metastatic potential, the inhibition of proliferation activity, and ultimately ...

Gravitational Waves from Compact Objects Accreting onto Active Galactic Nuclei [PDF]
We consider a model in which massive stars form in a self-gravitating accretion disk around an active galactic nucleus. These stars may evolve and collapse to form compact objects on a time scale shorter than the accretion time, thus producing an ...

AbstractThe concept of “category of structured sets with closure operator” provides a natural setting to define “perfect maps”, “compact objects” and “Hausdorff objects” and to prove some of the usual theorems interrelating them. Study of a wide class of non-topological examples culminates in the unification of the β-compactification of a space and the

RIPK4 function interferes with melanoma cell adhesion and metastasis
RIPK4 promotes melanoma growth and spread. RIPK4 levels increase as skin lesions progress to melanoma. CRISPR/Cas9‐mediated deletion of RIPK4 causes melanoma cells to form less compact spheroids, reduces their migratory and invasive abilities and limits tumour growth and dissemination in mouse models.

No long hair behaviors of ultra-compact objects
We investigate distributions of matter fields outside spherically symmetric ultra-compact objects with null circular orbits in the asymptotically flat background.

Superburst: surface phenomenon of compact objects
We suggest that superbursts from some low mass X-ray binaries may be due to breaking and re-formation of diquark pairs, on the surface of realistic strange stars.

Keratin 19 (KRT19) is overexpressed in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer with high levels of Kallikrein‐related peptidases (KLK) 4–7 and is associated with poor survival. In vivo analyses demonstrate that elevated KRT19 increases peritoneal tumour burden.

Do Central Compact Objects have Carbon Atmospheres?
Only three of the dozen central compact objects (CCOs) in supernova remnants (SNRs) show thermal X-ray pulsations due to nonuniform surface temperature (hot spots). The absence of X-ray pulsations from several unpulsed CCOs has motivated suggestions that

Identifying Compact Symmetric Objects in the Southern Sky [PDF]
We present results of multifrequency polarimetric VLBA observations of 20 compact radio sources. The observations represent the northern and southern extensions of a large survey undertaken to identify Compact Symmetric Objects (CSOs) Observed in the ...

KHS‐Cnd peptide is able to impair biofilm formation and disaggregate mature biofilms in Acinetobacter baumannii clinical isolates. Differences in extracellular metabolites reflect changes in biofilm metabolism due to KHS‐Cnd treatment. Among the differentially represented extracellular metabolites upon KHS‐Cnd treatment, the significantly altered ...
