Compactness in non-classical logics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
This work systematically studies the concept of compactness in classical propositional logic as well as various concepts of compactness and their relation to different notions of completeness in the framework of the general theory of consequence ...

Nonemptyness and compactness of the solution set for fractional evolution inclusions with non-instantaneous impulses

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Differential Equations, 2019
In this article, we consider the nonemptyness and compactness of the solution set for a class of fractional semilinear evolution inclusions with non-instantaneous impulses in Banach spaces. To achieve this we use fixed point theorems with semigroup

Assessment of In Situ Compactness and Air Void Content of New Asphalt Layers Using Ground-Penetrating Radar Measurements

open access: yesApplied Sciences
This paper deals with the possibilities of ground-penetrating radar (GPR)-based quality control testing, which was demonstrated on an experimental road section of a ~220–240 m long Hungarian residential street. The measurements and their assessment aimed

Notes on Compactness

open access: yes, 2006
This thesis discusses different aspects of compactness. After reviewing relevant ideas from general topology, we show compactness has a characterization in nets and in collections of closed sets with the finite intersection property.

An unexpected alternative viologen electron mediator site in tungsten‐containing formate dehydrogenase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
An unexpected alternative interaction site for ethyl viologen was identified in formate dehydrogenase 1 from Methylorubrum extorquens. Combined mutagenesis, kinetic analysis, and docking revealed that aromatic residues near an iron–sulfur cluster enable flavin mononucleotide‐independent electron transfer, offering a framework for engineering improved ...

Research on the Compactness of Lunar Soil Simulant Based on Static Cone Penetration Test

open access: yesApplied Sciences
The shear strength and bearing characteristics of lunar soil have a strong connection with its compactness. The compactness varies significantly with depth and has an important effect on engineering activities on the lunar surface.

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

A New Cluster Validity Index Based on Local Density of Data Points

open access: yesAxioms
Multiple cluster validity indices (CVIs) have been introduced for diverse applications. In practice, clusters exhibit varying shapes, sizes, densities, and closely spaced centers, which are typically unknown beforehand.
