Solutions to nonlinear elliptic equations with a nonlocal boundary condition

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Differential Equations, 2002
We study an elliptic equation and its evolution problem on a bounded domain with nonlocal boundary conditions. Eigenvalue problems, existence, and dynamic behavior of solutions for linear and semilinear equations are investigated.

A light‐triggered Time‐Resolved X‐ray Solution Scattering (TR‐XSS) workflow with application to protein conformational dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Time‐resolved X‐ray solution scattering captures how proteins change shape in real time under near‐native conditions. This article presents a practical workflow for light‐triggered TR‐XSS experiments, from data collection to structural refinement. Using a calcium‐transporting membrane protein as an example, the approach can be broadly applied to study ...

A comparison principle for stochastic integro-differential equations

open access: yes, 2014
. A comparison principle for stochastic integro- differ-ential equations driven by Lévy processes is proved. This result is obtained via an extension of an Ito ̂ formula from [11] for the square of the norm of the positive part of L2−valued, continuous ...

On the behavior of solutions of a doubly nonlinear degenerate parabolic system with nonlinear sources and absorptions with variable densities

open access: yesҚарағанды университетінің хабаршысы. Математика сериясы
In this paper, the problem of a doubly nonlinear degenerate parabolic system with nonlinear sources and absorption terms not located in a homogeneous medium was considered. It obeys zero Dirichlet boundary conditions in a smooth bounded domain.

Chameleon sequences reveal structural effects in proteins representing micelle‐like distribution of hydrophobicity

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Amino acids sequence of two different proteins with the same sequence (chameleon sequence—black boxes) represent in 3D structure of the proteins different secondary structures: HHHH—helical and BBB—Beta‐structural. The chains folded in water environment adopt different III‐order structures in which the chameleon fragments appear to adopt similar status

Combined 5‐aminolevulinic acid and ferric ammonium citrate treatment promotes hair follicle growth by activating dermal papilla cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
5‐Aminolevulinic acid combined with ferric ammonium citrate (5‐ALA/FAC) stimulates dermal papilla cell activity and promotes hair follicle growth. The treatment enhances ERK and AKT signaling, increases hair‐inductive gene expression, and restores dermal papilla function suppressed by dihydrotestosterone and oxidative stress, resulting in enhanced hair

Gradient estimates and comparison principle for some nonlinear elliptic equations

open access: yes, 2015
We consider a class of Dirichlet boundary problems for nonlinear elliptic equations with a first order term. We show how the summability of the gradient of a solution increases when the summability of the datum increases.

Systemic dysregulation of apolipoproteins in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis serum

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a fatal disease that damages motor neurons. This study found that people with ALS show significant changes in blood fats and the proteins that carry them. Several apolipoproteins were higher, lipid balances were altered, and normal protein–lipid relationships were disrupted.

The Swing of the Regulatory Pendulum in Europe: From Precautionary Principle to (Regulatory) Impact Analysis

open access: yes
Regulation in Europe is currently driven by three distinct, yet not entirely unrelated factors. These are competitiveness, sustainable development and governance.
