Aspects of competence-based education as footholds to improve the connectivity between learning in school and in the workplace

open access: yes, 2010
Recent developments in competence-based education have motivated institutions of vocational education and training (VET) to improve the links or connectivity between learning in school and learning in the workplace, which has been a problem for decades ...

Social competence: an evolutionary approach [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
'Social competence' refers to the ability of an individual to optimise its social behaviour depending on available social information. Although such ability will enhance social interactions and thus raise Darwinian fitness, its evolutionary and ...

The competency-based approach to training

open access: yesMedical Journal of Indonesia, 1996
This paper describes the competency-based training (CBT) approach that was presented at a pre-congress seminar entitled "Learning Without Walls" that was held on October 13-14 1995 in Bali Indonesia in conjunction with the XVth Asian and Oceanic Congress of Obstetrics and Gynecology. A small group of decision makers was given the opportunity to update

An evolutionary approach for competency-based curriculum sequencing [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the 10th annual conference on Genetic and evolutionary computation, 2008
The process of creating e-learning contents using reusable learning objects (LOs) can be broken down in two sub-processes: LOs finding and LO sequencing. Sequencing is usually performed by instructors, who create courses targeting generic profiles rather than personalized materials.

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Competency Based Approach Between Theory And Practice

open access: yesمجلة العلوم الإنسانية, 2015
This paper purports to investigate the extent to which pre-service middle school teachers of English at the Teachers Training School of Constantine (ENSC) are able to put into practice the Competency based approach (CBA) tenets. A sample population of 42 pre-service middle school teachers took part in the study through a survey which revealed that a ...

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Organizing the interface—Plasma membrane architecture and receptor dynamics in virus‐cell interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Plasma membranes contain dynamic nanoscale domains that organize lipids and receptors. Because viruses operate at similar scales, this architecture shapes early infection steps, including attachment, receptor engagement, and entry. Using influenza A virus and HIV‐1 as examples, we highlight how receptor nanoclusters, multivalent glycan interactions ...
