ADVERSE SELECTION, LEARNING, AND COMPETITIVE SEARCH
AbstractI develop a model that allows for an analysis of the effects of time on adverse selection in the presence of search frictions. I find that, as a firm takes longer to adjust a worker's contract in response to learning about his type, inefficient overwork during the time before wage adjustment (probation) decreases.

Local Search Markets and External Competition [PDF]
Increased competition tends to benefit all buyers with increasing product variety and decreasing prices. However, if local and external market channels compete for the same class of products, increased competition from the external market crowds out local variety. Under local monopoly, local buyer surplus co-moves with external buyer surplus.

A Novel Hexagonal Search Algorithm for Fast Block Matching Motion Estimation
Based on real-world image sequence characteristics of center-biased motion vector distribution, a Hexagonal (HS) algorithm with center-biased checking point pattern for fast block motion estimation is proposed.

Exploiting an Elitist Barnacles Mating Optimizer implementation for substitution box optimization
Barnacles Mating Optimizer (BMO) is a new metaheuristic algorithm that suffers from slow convergence and poor efficiency due to its limited capability in exploiting the search space and exploring new promising regions. Addressing these shortcomings, this

Competitive Search with Ex-post Opportunism [PDF]
Abstract:We consider a frictional market where an element of the terms of trade (price or quantity) is posted ex-ante (before the matching process) while the other is determined ex-post. By doing so, sellers can exploit their local monopoly power by adjusting prices or quantities once the local demand is realized.

ABSTRACT Purpose Although not always achieved, complete chemotherapy‐induced nausea and vomiting (CINV) control is the conventional goal of CINV prophylaxis. In this two‐center, mixed‐methods study, we sought to understand the preferences of adolescent patients and family caregivers for CINV control endpoints.
