Understanding the first steps of the complement classical pathway: Structural studies on C1-antibody complexes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
The complement system is a complex network of plasma and membrane-associated proteins, which can produce effective immune responses to infectious micro-organisms. Deficiencies of complement proteins cause diseases like systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE),

PDGFRα+/Integrin α2+ Fibroblasts Orchestrate Tumor Budding in Oral Squamous Cell Carcinoma via Mechano‐Metabolic Symbiosis: E‐Cadherin/Integrin α2β1 Adhesion and Mitochondrial Transfer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
PDGFA/PDGFRα signaling recruits CAFs to OSCC nests, and CAF‐OSCC contact drives tumor budding invasion. Mechanistically, heterotypic adhesion via E‐cadherin/integrin α2β1 activates YAP signaling in OSCC cells, inducing EMT. Concurrently, CAFs transfer mitochondria through TNTs, supplying ATP to fuel invasion.

Acquired Angioedema Related to Transient C1- Inhibitor Deficiency Triggered by Mycoplasma pneumoniae Infection: A Case Report

open access: yesReports
Background and Clinical Significance: Acquired angioedema (AAE) is a rare and potentially life-threatening condition characterized by acquired deficiency of C1-inhibitor (C1-INH) resulting in hyperactivation of the classical complement pathway.

Neuroprotection by complement (C1) inhibitor in mouse transient brain ischemia

open access: yes, 2003
The authors investigated the effect of the C1 inhibitor (C1-INH), the only known inhibitor of complement C1, in a murine model of transient focal ischemia. Ischemia was induced by intraluminal occlusion of the middle cerebral artery.

Discovering Early‐Stage Gas Generation Kinetics Enables Thermal Runaway Early Warning in Lithium‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Operando gas diagnostics reveal a previously unrecognized chemical activation (CA) stage during thermal runaway in lithium‐ion batteries. A physics‐informed gas generation kinetics network (GGKNet) is developed to reconstruct reaction pathways and physical models automatically.

Plaid‐Like Spin Splitting and Chirality of Magnon Bands in Antiferromagnetic MnTe2

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Helicity‐ and angle‐resolved Raman spectroscopy reveals chiral magnons in the non‐coplanar antiferromagnet MnTe 2. Combined with first‐principles calculations and spin‐wave theory, the results establish its altermagnetic character through circular Raman dichroism, reduced rotational symmetry, and a distinctive plaid‐like momentum‐space magnon spin ...

LRG1 Drives Pathological Angiogenesis by Disrupting Neutrophil Mitochondrial Homeostasis in Bladder Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In bladder cancer, LRG1 binds to ANXA2 to trigger mitochondrial ROS‐dependent NETosis. This pathogenic cascade actively uncouples endothelial‐mural cell interactions, driving profound vascular destabilization. Consequently, targeting the LRG1‐ANXA2 axis attenuates the neutrophil burden and induces structural vascular normalization, offering a powerful ...

scTIDE: Deciphering Critical Transitions Through Cell‐Perturbed Manifold Graphs and Optimal Transport Conditional Flow Matching

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
scTIDE identifies single‐cell tipping points by combining manifold‐based graph representations with optimal‐transport conditional flow matching, which preserves intrinsic topology and models distributional dynamics. It supports critical‐transition detection at individual‐cell resolution, prediction of unseen cells, and dimensionality reduction and ...

ZBTB11 Promotes Breast Cancer Progression by Activating FBXO28‐Mediated MST1 Degradation and Suppressing Hippo Signaling

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ZBTB11 is identified as an oncogenic transcription factor that activates FBXO28 in breast cancer. FBXO28 promotes K48‐linked ubiquitination and degradation of MST1, suppressing Hippo signaling and enhancing epithelial–mesenchymal transition and metastasis. This transcription‐to‐ubiquitination cascade defines a prognostic biomarker axis and highlights a
