Treatment of C3 Glomerulopathy with Complement Blockers
Seminars in Thrombosis and Hemostasis, 2014C3 glomerulopathy (C3G) is a newly defined clinical entity comprising glomerular lesions with predominant C3 staining. Under this definition are now included membranoproliferative glomerulonephritis type II (dense deposit disease) and C3 glomerulonephritis.

C3 glomerulopathy: A new complement-based entity
Revista Clínica Española (English Edition), 2014C3 glomerulopathy is a new, recently described entity that has changed the perspective, treatment and classification of a number of glomerular diseases. It encompasses 2 similar but clearly differentiated pathologies -the dense-deposit disease and C3 glomerulonephritis itself.

C3 and C6 Complement Types in Schizophrenia
Human Heredity, 1985C3 and C6 complement types were studied in schizophrenic patients and controls. The distributions of the three common C3 types (F, FS and S) among the patients was significantly different from that in the controls (p less than 0.005) and the frequency of the C3F gene was significantly increased (p less than 0.0005) among the patients.

Interaction of Fibronectin with Complement Component C3
Scandinavian Journal of Immunology, 1983The activation of the complement component C3 generates C3a and C3b fragments, and the physiological cleavage of C3b further yields C3c and C3d fragments. We studied here by enzyme immunoassay the ability of human plasma fibronectin to interact with native C3 of human sera and with isolated C3c and C3d fragments of C3.

Complement (C3)-Activated Phagocytosis by Lung Macrophages
The Journal of Immunology, 1978Abstract We have investigated the interaction between rabbit lung macrophages and Escherichia coli lipopolysaccharide-coated oil droplets opsonized with a fragment of C3, and of albumin-coated oil droplets opsonized with anti-albumin IgG.

The role of complement in C3 glomerulopathy
Molecular Immunology, 2015C3 glomerulopathy describes a spectrum of disorders with glomerular pathology associated with C3 cleavage product deposition and with defective complement action and regulation (Fakhouri et al., 2010; Sethi et al., 2012b). Kidney biopsies from these patients show glomerular accumulation or deposition of C3 cleavage fragments, but no or minor deposition

Platelet-associated complement C3 in thrombocytopenic states
British Journal of Haematology, 1983Platelet-associated complement components C3, C3d and C4 (PAC3, PAC3d, PAC4) were quantitated by a modification of the platelet radioactive anti-IgG test using highly purified C3 antibodies in 74 patients with immune thrombocytopenia (ITP), 26 patients with presumed nonimmune thrombocytopenia (NTP), and 114 normal individuals. Elevated PAC3 levels were

Complement components (C3, C4) in childhood asthma
The Indian Journal of Pediatrics, 2005To assess the involvement of complements (C3, C4) in the pathophysiology of bronchial asthma.Selection of patients (n = 64) were made according to the recommended international criteria for diagnosis and classification of asthma. Serum levels of complement components (C3, C4) were measured by radial immunodiffusion technique in 64 Libyan children (age:

Intracerebral hemorrhage in complement C3-deficient mice
2006The complement cascade is activated and contributes to brain damage after intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH). The present study investigated ICH-induced brain damage in complement C3-deficient mice. This study was divided into 2 parts. Male C3-deficient and C3-sufficient mice received an infusion of 30-microl autologous whole blood into the right basal ...

Extrahepatic secreted complement C3 contributes to circulating C3 levels in humans
The Journal of Immunology, 1996Abstract The majority of complement protein C3 is synthesized by the liver, but many other cell types produce small amounts of functionally active C3. The overall contribution of such extrahepatic C3 production to the total circulating C3 level is unknown.
