Comparison of two immunoassays for the complement protein C4b-binding protein in health and disease
International Journal of Clinical & Laboratory Research, 1995An enzyme-linked immunoassay for human C4b-binding protein (concentration range 25-400 ng/ml) was developed using two monoclonal antibodies; the intra- and interassay coefficients of variation were less than 7.2%. In 50 normal subjects, 20 patients with liver cirrhosis and 34 full-term newborns, the plasma levels of C4b-binding protein were very ...

Allelic distribution of complement components BF, C4A, C4B, and C3 in Psoriasis vulgaris
Immunology Letters, 2002Psoriasis vulgaris is a multifactorial disease; the strongest association was established with the HLA complex. The actual disease-predisposing gene(s) has not been identified yet, but several genes from this region were examined in addition to HLA-C and -B.

Complement C4A and C4B Gene Copy Number Study in Alzheimer's Disease Patients
Current Alzheimer Research, 2017Background/Objectives: Increasing evidence suggests the importance of neuroinflammation in the pathogenesis of Alzheimer’s disease (AD), which is a complex neurodegenerative disorder. Complement activation occurs in the brain of patients with AD and seems to contribute to an important local inflammatory state. Increased expression of the fourth serum

To investigate the differential expression of complement C4b and transthyretin in proliferative vitreoretinopathy (PVR).It was a controlled experimental study. Human vitreous samples of 5 patients with PVR were analyzed by using two-dimensional gel electrophoresis and mass spectrometry, and the results were compared with those from normal control ...

Complement receptors (C3b, C4b/C3d) unbalance on CLL lymphocytes.
Bollettino dell'Istituto sieroterapico milanese, 1977A study of lymphocytes bearing C3b, C4b and C3d complement receptor (CRL) was performed on human peripheral blood from 16 healthy donors and 12 patients affected with Chronic Lymphatic Leukemia (CLL). In the latter group a clear rise of C3dCRL was demonstrated, when compared with immunoadherence receptors bearing lymphocytes.
