Ultrastructures and interactions of complement factors H and I

The Journal of Immunology, 1992
Abstract The human complement regulatory protein, factor H, was examined by high resolution transmission electron microscopy. Results of electron microscopy confirm hydrodynamic analysis and indicate that factor H is a monomer of M(r) approximately 155,000.

A novel complement factor I involving in the complement system immune response from Lampetra morii

Fish & Shellfish Immunology, 2020
Complement factor I (CFI) is a serine protease which plays a key role in the modulation of complement system and the induced-fit factor responsible for controlling the complement-mediated processes. In this study, a CFI gene was cloned and characterized from Lampetra morii (designated as L-CFI) at molecular and cellular levels.

Complement factor I deficiency in a family with recurrent infections

Immunopharmacology, 1997
Factor I deficiency causes a permanent, uncontrolled activation of the alternative pathway resulting in an increased turnover of C3 and consumption of factor B, factor H and properdin. Factor I deficiency is clinically associated with recurrent bacterial infections already in early infancy, mainly affecting the upper and lower respiratory tract, or ...

Physicochemical Characterization of Complement-Interacting Factors from Taenia taeniaeformis

The Journal of Immunology, 1978
Abstract Complement-fixing activity was washed from the surface of metacestodes of Taenia taeniaeformis and characterized physicochemically by enzymatic digestion, gel filtration, anion exchange chromatography, ultracentrifugation, and gel electrophoresis. The results provided evidence of an association between antihemolytic activity and

Complement factor D̄‐like activity of Porphyromonas gingivalis W83

Oral Microbiology and Immunology, 1991
Porphyromonas gingivalis is a proteolytic gram‐negative anaerobic bacterium that is frequently isolated from lesions of human periodontal disease. Previous studies have shown that P. gingivalis strain W83 inactivates C3 in pooled normal human serum (NHS) by a mechanism that is inhibitable by EDTA, yet it degrades purified complement proteins by a ...
