Hotting-up the complement-fixation test [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Hygiene, 1983
SUMMARYA detailed investigation into the effect of modifying the incubation temperature of the complement-fixation (CF) test is described. For varicella-zoster virus cytomegalovirus and rubella virus, increasing the incubation temperature progressively increased the sensitivity of the CF test to reach a maximum at 15°C, at which temperature the ...

Heterogeneity in the Global Practice of Central Nervous System Staging in Pediatric Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Central nervous system (CNS) involvement in childhood acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) is assessed by cell counting and cytomorphology from cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) and is used for treatment stratification worldwide. The ratio of “CNS2” patients in clinical trials ranges from 3% to 40%, with unclear prognostic significance ...

Combining Sensitive Crossmatch Assays With Donor/Recipient Human Leukocyte Antigen Eplet Matching Predicts Living-Donor Kidney Transplant Outcome

open access: yesKidney International Reports, 2018
Introduction: Despite the different assays available for immune-risk stratification before living-donor kidney transplantation (LDKT), the precise type and number of tests to perform remain uncertain. Methods: In a cohort of 330 consecutive LDKT patients,

DETECTION OF ENCEPHALITOZOONOSIS AND TOXOPLASMOSIS AMONG RABBITS BY CARBON IMMUNOASSAY [PDF]

open access: yesVeterinary Medical Journal - Giza, 1991
Encephalitozoon cuniculi is an intracellular protozoon parasite of brain, kidneys and other tissues. It frequently causes chronic and latent infections in laboratory animals especially rabbits (Shaduck and Pakes, 1971).

Therapeutic Apheresis for Intravenous Methylprednisolone‐Refractory Neuromyelitis Optica Spectrum Disorder: Clinical and Radiological Outcomes in a Single‐Center Case Series

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder (NMOSD) is a relapsing autoimmune disease of the central nervous system. High‐dose intravenous methylprednisolone (IVMP) is the standard first‐line therapy for acute attacks, although some patients remain refractory.

EDNRB‐dependent endothelin signaling reduces proliferation and promotes proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition in gliomas

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Glioma cells mainly express the endothelin receptor EDNRB, while EDNRA is restricted to a perivascular tumor subpopulation. Endothelin signaling reduces glioma cell proliferation while promoting migration and a proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition associated with poor prognosis. This pathway activates Ca2+, K+, ERK, and STAT3 signalings and is regulated

Keratin 19 as a prognostic marker and contributing factor of metastasis and chemoresistance in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Keratin 19 (KRT19) is overexpressed in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer with high levels of Kallikrein‐related peptidases (KLK) 4–7 and is associated with poor survival. In vivo analyses demonstrate that elevated KRT19 increases peritoneal tumour burden.

Hippo pathway at the crossroads of stemness and therapeutic resistance in breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dysregulation of the Hippo pathway drives nuclear accumulation of YAP/TAZ, activating stemness‐related transcriptional programs that sustain breast cancer stemness and fuel therapeutic resistance across subtypes, underscoring Hippo signaling as a targetable vulnerability. Figure created and edited with BioRender.com.
