A study of the antigens of foot-and-mouth disease virus by complement fixation [PDF]

open access: yes
A study was made of the fixation of complement by antigens of foot-and-mouth disease virus ( FMDV). The technique was applied to the determination of the serological properties of FMDV antigens and to the differentiation and classification of strains. An

Characterization of a Serodiagnostic Complement Fixation Antigen of Coccidioides posadasii Expressed in the Nonpathogenic Fungus Uncinocarpus reesii [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Coccidioides spp. (immitis and posadasii) are the causative agents of human coccidioidomycosis. In this study, we developed a novel system to overexpress coccidioidal proteins in a nonpathogenic fungus, Uncinocarpus reesii, which is closely related to ...

Oncogenic DMTF1β promotes cancer cell motility by regulating autophagy through ULK1 stabilization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In the current study, we demonstrate that the oncogene DMTF1β regulates ULK1 stability by reducing its proteasomal degradation in cancer cells. This stabilization enables ULK1 to induce autophagy, which in turn facilitates cancer cell migration. Consequently, reduced DMTF1β levels lead to decreased autophagy and impaired cancer cell migration.

Detection of false seroconversions in cytomegalovirus seronegative platelet donors by serial complement fixation or IgG-specific radioimmunosorbent tests

open access: yes, 1992
A panel of 421 cytomegalovirus (CMV) seronegative-platelet donors was followed using complement-fixation (CFT) and IgG-specific radioimmunosorbent tests (RIST) to detect seroconversion.

A comparison of the hemagglutination-inhibition, neutralization and complement fixation tests in the assay of antibody to measles.

open access: yesJournal of Immunology, 1962
The CF, HI and neutralization tests have been used to assay the antibody content of sera from animals and man following vaccination with killed measles virus and/or natural infection with the live virus.

Mycobacterial cell division arrest and smooth‐to‐rough envelope transition using CRISPRi‐mediated genetic repression systems

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
CRISPRI‐mediated gene silencing and phenotypic exploration in nontuberculous mycobacteria. In this Research Protocol, we describe approaches to control, monitor, and quantitatively assess CRISPRI‐mediated gene silencing in M. smegmatis and M. abscessus model organisms.
