Evaluating the linguistic coverage of OpenAlex: An assessment of metadata accuracy and completeness [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the Association for Information Science and Technology
AbstractClarivate's Web of Science (WoS) and Elsevier's Scopus have been for decades the main sources of bibliometric information. Although highly curated, these closed, proprietary databases are largely biased toward English‐language publications, underestimating the use of other languages in research dissemination. Launched in 2022, OpenAlex promised

Mycobacterial cell division arrest and smooth‐to‐rough envelope transition using CRISPRi‐mediated genetic repression systems

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
CRISPRI‐mediated gene silencing and phenotypic exploration in nontuberculous mycobacteria. In this Research Protocol, we describe approaches to control, monitor, and quantitatively assess CRISPRI‐mediated gene silencing in M. smegmatis and M. abscessus model organisms.

Analysing the significance of small conformational changes and low occupancy states in serial crystallographic data

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This protocol paper outlines methods to establish the success of a time‐resolved serial crystallographic experiment, by means of statistical analysis of timepoint data in reciprocal space and models in real space. We show how to amplify the signal from excited states to visualise structural changes in successful experiments.

An Algorithm of Complete Coverage Path Planning for Autonomous Underwater Vehicles

open access: yes, 2011
Complete coverage path planning (CCPP) is an essential issue for Autonomous Underwater Vehicles’ (AUV) tasks, such as submarine search operations and complete coverage ocean explorations.

Determinants of complete immunizations coverage among children aged 12–23 months in Papua New Guinea

open access: yes, 2020
Introduction Vaccination is one of the most cost-effective measures adopted to prevent major deadly childhood diseases globally. Worldwide, the uptake of routine childhood vaccination has the propensity to prevent about 1.5 million annual deaths among

Dependency-based n-gram models for general purpose sentence realisation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
We present dependency-based n-gram models for general-purpose, widecoverage, probabilistic sentence realisation. Our method linearises unordered dependencies in input representations directly rather than via the application of grammar rules, as in ...

Evolutionarily divergent DUF4465 domains have a common vitamin B12‐binding function

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We show that DUF4465 family proteins, widespread across bacteria from gut microbiomes, hydrothermal vents, and soil, share a common vitamin B12‐binding function. These augmented β‐jellyroll proteins bind vitamin B12 via extended loops. Our findings establish sequence‐diverse DUF4465 proteins as a widespread class of B12‐binding proteins, highlighting ...

Simulation for complete coverage path planning

open access: yes, 2005
This thesis consits of 2 parts. -Part A-. Coverage path planning is the determination of a path that a robot must take in order to pass over each point in an environment. Applications include vacuuming, floor scrubbing, and inspection.

Large‐scale bidirectional arrayed genetic screens identify OXR1 and EMC4 as modifiers of αSynuclein aggregation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Activation of the mitochondrial protein OXR1 increases pSyn129 αSynuclein aggregation by lowering ATP levels and altering mitochondrial membrane potential, particularly in response to MSA‐derived fibrils. In contrast, ablation of the ER protein EMC4 enhances autophagic flux and lysosomal clearance, broadly reducing α‐synuclein aggregates.
