Epilepsy‐Associated Variants of a Single SCN1A Codon Exhibit Divergent Functional Properties

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Pathogenic variants in SCN1A, which encodes the voltage‐gated sodium channel NaV1.1, are associated with multiple epilepsy syndromes exhibiting a range of clinical severity. SCN1A variants are reported in different syndromes, including Dravet syndrome, which is associated with loss‐of‐function, whereas neonatal/infantile‐onset ...

Complete intersection monomial curves and the Cohen-Macaulayness of their tangent cones

open access: yes, 2018
Let $C({\bf n})$ be a complete intersection monomial curve in the 4-dimensional affine space. In this paper we study the complete intersection property of the monomial curve $C({\bf n}+w{\bf v})$, where $w>0$ is an integer and ${\bf v} \in \mathbb{N}^{4}$

Innate Immune Reprogramming Mediated by Endogenous Retroelement Dysregulation Drives Multiple Sclerosis Progression

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
Epigenetic reprogramming in hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells (HSPCs) and downstream myeloid cells, mediated by H3.3 downregulation and endogenous retroelement (ERE) overexpression, contributes to the progression of multiple sclerosis (MS). ABSTRACT Background Skewed myelopoiesis in the bone marrow has been identified as a key driver of multiple ...

Arithmetic of (independent) sigma-fields on probability spaces

open access: yesModern Stochastics: Theory and Applications, 2019
This note gathers what is known about, and provides some new results concerning the operations of intersection, of “generated σ-field”, and of “complementation” for (independent) complete σ-fields on probability spaces.

Complete intersection vanishing ideals on degenerate tori over finite fields

open access: yes, 2012
We study the complete intersection property and the algebraic invariants (index of regularity, degree) of vanishing ideals on degenerate tori over finite fields.

A Qualitative Analysis of Patient Perspectives and Preferences in Lupus Management to Guide Lupus Guidelines Development

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective A patient‐centered approach for chronic disease management, including systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), aligns treatment with patients’ values and preferences, leading to improved outcomes. This paper summarizes how patient experiences, perspectives, and priorities informed the American College of Rheumatology (ACR) 2024 Lupus Nephritis (LN)

On the Growth and Approximation of Transcendental Entire Functions on Algebraic Varieties

open access: yesInternational Journal of Analysis and Applications, 2016
Let X be a complete intersection algebraic variety of codimension m > 1 in Cm+n. Inthis paper we characterized the classical growth parameters order and type for transcendental entire functions f ∈ ⊕(X), the space of holomorphic functions on the ...

Deformations of generalized complete intersections [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the American Mathematical Society, 1976
The concept of a generalized complete intersection (GCI) of affine schemes is introduced. The proofs of the following theorems are then sketched. Theorem 1. Suppose X X is a G C I GCI of affine Cohen-Macaulay schemes of codimension ⩽ 2 \leqslant 2 .

Prevalence of Systemic Lupus Erythematosus in Australia, 2010–2022: A Population‐Based Study Using Linked National Administrative Health Data

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, Accepted Article.
Objectives Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is a heterogenous inflammatory condition, with widely varying global prevalence estimates. Frequency of SLE in the general population of Australia has been reported to be notably lower than contemporary estimates in countries such as the US or UK at 19‐39 per 100,000 as opposed to 65‐97 per 100,000.
