Keratin 19 as a prognostic marker and contributing factor of metastasis and chemoresistance in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Keratin 19 (KRT19) is overexpressed in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer with high levels of Kallikrein‐related peptidases (KLK) 4–7 and is associated with poor survival. In vivo analyses demonstrate that elevated KRT19 increases peritoneal tumour burden.

Optimisation in ‘Self-modelling’ Complex Adaptive Systems

open access: yes, 2011
When a dynamical system with multiple point attractors is released from an arbitrary initial condition it will relax into a configuration that locally resolves the constraints or opposing forces between interdependent state variables. However, when there

Establishment of a humanized patient‐derived xenograft mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer for preclinical evaluation of combination immunotherapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We have established a humanized orthotopic patient‐derived xenograft (Hu‐oPDX) mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSOC) that recapitulates human tumor–immune interactions. Using combined anti‐PD‐L1/anti‐CD73 immunotherapy, we demonstrate the model's improved biological relevance and enhanced translational value for preclinical ...

Transitioning to a green economy: Radical labor transformation or building upon existing skills?

open access: yesSustainability Analytics and Modeling
Transitioning to a “green” economy will require many industries to change their activities, raising concerns about the elimination of occupations and the need for significant retraining of the workforce.

The Use of Complex Adaptive Systems as a Generative Metaphor in an Action Research Study of an Organisation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Understanding the dynamic behaviour of organisations is challenging and this study uses a model of complex adaptive systems as a generative metaphor to address this challenge.

Deciphering transcriptional plasticity in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma reveals alterations in sensory neuron innervation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pancreatic sensory neurons innervating healthy and PDAC tissue were retrogradely labeled and profiled by single‐cell RNA sequencing. Tumor‐associated innervation showed a dominant neurofilament‐positive subtype, altered mitochondrial gene signatures, and reduced non‐peptidergic neurons.

Caution as a Response to Scientific Uncertainty: A Groundwater Game Experiment

open access: yesInternational Journal of the Commons
Understanding and managing uncertainty is critical for robust governance. In groundwater management, where collaborative, community-based governance is increasingly common, scientific uncertainty about hydrological conditions could pose challenges to ...
