Synthesis and characterization of zinc(II) and copper(II) complexes of embelin

The synthesis and characterization of zinc(II) and copper(II) complexes of embelin (1), C17H26O4, are described. Zinc(II) and copper(II) ions reacted with (1) (an orange compound) in a 1:2 ratio to yield purple and green complexes, respectively.
