Nanochannels: Hosts for the Supramolecular Organization of Molecules and Complexes

Langmuir, 2012
Nanochannels have been used as hosts for supramolecular organization for a large variety of guests. The possibilities for building complex structures based on 2D and especially 3D nanochannel hosts are larger than those based on 1D nanochannel hosts. The latter are, however, easier to understand and to control.

Investigation of claims for interstellar organisms and complex organic molecules

Nature, 1984
For many years, Hoyle, Wickramasinghe and their associates have examined interstellar (IS) absorption features in the ultraviolet, visible and infrared and ‘identified’ them with a variety of organic structures or organisms. Among these there have been generalized, pre-biotic molecules1, polyoxymethylene whiskers2, polysaccharides and hydrocarbons3,4 ...

Complexation of Neutral Organic Molecules by (Metallo)Macrocycles and Metalloclefts

Journal of Coordination Chemistry, 1992
Thermodynamic data of several complexes studied with NMR spectroscopy in solution and X-ray analysis of the solid state showed that hydrogen bond formation between host and guest determines the structures of the complexes, and very likely also their stability. Two methods to enhance the stability of this type of complexes are described.

Complexes of Molecular Oxygen with Organic Molecules

Russian Chemical Reviews, 1985
Molecular oxygen forms complexes with organic molecules. Evidence for such complex formation and its manifestations are described and criteria are formulated whereby one can distinguish the usual equilibrium complexes from impact (collision) complexes. The principal types of complexes and the electron orbitals with the aid of which the species combined

Zirconocene Complexes of Unsaturated Organic Molecules: New Vehicles for Organic Synthesis

Science, 1993
Transition metals are known to stabilize high-energy species and to activate otherwise unreactive ones. The zirconocene unit stabilizes highly strained alkynes and alkenes, allowing their use in selective carbon-carbon bond-forming reactions.

Organization of SCP1 Protein Molecules within Synaptonemal Complexes of the Rat

Experimental Cell Research, 1996
SCP1, a major protein component of synaptonemal complexes (SCs), is probably a constituent of the transverse filaments (TFs). The protein consists of three domains: a short, proline-rich N-terminal part, a stretch of 700 amino acid residues capable of forming an amphipathic alpha-helix, and a C-terminal domain of 240 amino acid residues which is ...

Modelling clusters of complex organic molecules

Oxygenated organic molecules (OOMs) form in the atmosphere by oxidation of volatile organic compounds from both natural and anthropogenic sources. Highly oxygenated organic molecules are likely to take part in new particle formation, but it is unclear to what extent they can form particles without the involvement of inorganic acids or ions, and whether

SPECTROSCOPIC INVESTIGATIONS OF INTRAMOLECULAR RELAXATIONS IN ORGANIC COMPLEX MOLECULES

Pure and Applied Chemistry, 1974
Some experimental results referring to vibrational and electronic (vibronic) relaxations in organic complex molecules are considered on the basis of simple models. The fundamental role of normal vibrational interactions is shown in the formation of mixed vibrational and vibronic molecular states, determining the dynamics of the absorbed light energy ...

Prebiotic Complex Organic Molecules in Space

2019
As of 2017, about 200 complex organic molecules have been detected in interstellar molecular clouds. It was 1969 when the first organic molecule in space, H2CO, was discovered. Since then many organic molecules were discovered by using the NRAO 11 m (upgraded later to 12 m), Nobeyama 45 m, IRAM 30 m, and other highly sensitive radio telescopes as a ...
