Strength through diversity: how cancers thrive when clones cooperate
Intratumor heterogeneity can offer direct benefits to the tumor through cooperation between different clones. In this review, Kuiken et al. discuss existing evidence for clonal cooperativity to identify overarching principles, and highlight how novel technological developments could address remaining open questions.

On piecewise isomorphism of some varieties
Two quasi-projective varieties are called piecewise isomorphic if they can be stratified into pairwise isomorphic strata. We show that the m-th symmetric power $S^m(C^n)$ of the complex affine space $C^n$ is piecewise isomorphic to $C^{mn}$ and the m-th ...

Combining PTEN protein assessment and transcriptomic profiling of prostate tumors, we uncovered a network enriched in senescence and extracellular matrix (ECM) programs associated with PTEN loss and conserved in a mouse model. We show that PTEN‐deficient cells trigger paracrine remodeling of the surrounding stroma and this information could help ...

On the zeta functions on the projective complex spaces
In this article, we study the zeta function $ _q$ associated to the Laplace operator $ _q$ acting on the space of the smooth $(0,q)$-forms with $q=0,\ldots,n$ on the complex projective space $\mathbb{P}^n(\mathbb{C})$ endowed with its Fubini-Study metric. In particular, we show that the values of $ _q$ at non-positive integers are rational. Moreover,

Under environmental changes, the expression level of neuropeptide (NP) and neuropeptide receptor (NPR) genes changes to confer context‐dependent adaptation to the model organism Drosophila melanogaster. Through finding more regulatory elements in the NPR genes in comparison with their ligands (NPs), we found that NPR‐biased transcriptional regulation ...

A Novel Latin Hypercube Algorithm via Translational Propagation
Metamodels have been widely used in engineering design to facilitate analysis and optimization of complex systems that involve computationally expensive simulation programs. The accuracy of metamodels is directly related to the experimental designs used.

Angubindin‐1 binds angulin‐1/‐3 at tricellular tight junctions, enhancing intestinal macromolecule permeation. Alanine scanning identified six essential residues (L562, L598, E638, V640, Y643, and K644) of angubindin‐1 critical for binding to angulin‐1/‐3 and permeation‐enhancing activity, providing insights for the development of targeted noninvasive ...

Asymptotic behaviour of the sectional ring
The theory of the Okounkov body is a usual tool for analyzing the asymptotic behaviour of the sectional ring of a line bundle over a projective manifold.

The complex-symplectic geometry of SL(2,C)-characters over surfaces
The SL(2)-character variety X of a closed surface M enjoys a natural complex-symplectic structure invariant under the mapping class group G of M. Using the ergodicity of G on the SU(2)-character variety, we deduce that every G-invariant meromorphic ...
