How do Fermi liquids get heavy and die?

open access: yes, 2001
We discuss non-Fermi liquid and quantum critical behavior in heavy fermion materials, focussing on the mechanism by which the electron mass appears to diverge at the quantum critical point.

Glycosylated LGALS3BP is highly secreted by bladder cancer cells and represents a novel urinary disease biomarker

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Urinary LGALS3BP is elevated in bladder cancer patients compared to healthy controls as detected by the 1959 antibody–based ELISA. The antibody shows enhanced reactivity to the high‐mannose glycosylated variant secreted by cancer cells treated with kifunensine (KIF).

Numerical study of concrete-filled steel composite (CFSC) stub columns with steel stiffeners

open access: yesLatin American Journal of Solids and Structures
Numerical study of concrete-filled steel composite (CFSC) stub columns with steel stiffeners is presented in this paper. The behaviour of the columns is examined by the use of the finite element software LUSAS.

Reliability and durability assessment of concrete and composite structures

open access: yesEngineering Structures and Technologies, 2010
Methods of probability design and statistical control of reinforced concrete and composite structures lead to material economy and increase in reliability of buildings and constructions. Limit states of construction are to be caused by loads and material

Building Blocks of Topological Quantum Chemistry: Elementary Band Representations

open access: yes, 2018
The link between chemical orbitals described by local degrees of freedom and band theory, which is defined in momentum space, was proposed by Zak several decades ago for spinless systems with and without time-reversal in his theory of "elementary" band ...

CDK11 inhibition induces cytoplasmic p21WAF1 splice variant by p53 stabilisation and SF3B1 inactivation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
CDK11 inhibition stabilises the tumour suppressor p53 and triggers the production of an alternative p21WAF1 splice variant p21L, through the inactivation of the spliceosomal protein SF3B1. Unlike the canonical p21WAF1 protein, p21L is localised in the cytoplasm and has reduced cell cycle‐blocking activity.

Numerical Analysis and Resistance Design of UHPC- and UHTCC-Encased Rectangular Steel Tubular Columns Subject to Axial Compression

open access: yesBuildings
Ultra-high performance concrete (UHPC) and ultra-high toughness cementitious composite (UHTCC) offer superior mechanical properties compared to normal concrete, with UHPC excelling in compressive strength and UHTCC in tensile ductility and crack ...

Intein‐based modular chimeric antigen receptor platform for specific CD19/CD20 co‐targeting

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
CARtein is a modular CAR platform that uses split inteins to splice antigen‐recognition modules onto a universal signaling backbone, enabling precise, scarless assembly without re‐engineering signaling domains. Deployed here against CD19 and CD20 in B‐cell malignancies, the design supports flexible multi‐antigen targeting to boost T‐cell activation and
