Hypotensive Response to Angiotensin II Type 2 Receptor Stimulation in the Rostral Ventrolateral Medulla Requires Functional GABA-A Receptors

open access: yesFrontiers in Neuroscience, 2017
Objectives: Angiotensin II, glutamate and gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) interact within the rostral ventrolateral medulla (RVLM) and the paraventricular nucleus (PVN) modulating the central regulation of blood pressure and sympathetic tone.

Compound and quasi-compound states in low-energy scattering of nucleons from 12C [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
A multi-channel algebraic scattering theory has been used to study the properties of nucleon scattering from 12C and of the sub-threshold compound nuclear states, accounting for properties in the compound nuclei to ~10 MeV.

Phonon spectra in CaFe2As2 and Ca0.6Na0.4Fe2As2: Measurement of the pressure and temperature dependence and comparison with ab-initio and shell model calculations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
We report the pressure and temperature dependence of the phonon density-of-states in superconducting Ca0.6Na0.4Fe2As2 (Tc=21 K) and the parent compound CaFe2As2, using inelastic neutron scattering.

Anti-fibrotic Potential of AT2 Receptor Agonists

open access: yesFrontiers in Pharmacology, 2017
There are a number of therapeutic targets to treat organ fibrosis that are under investigation in preclinical models. There is increasing evidence that stimulation of the angiotensin II type 2 receptor (AT2R) is a novel anti-fibrotic strategy and we have

Methyl 2-oxo-2H-chromene-3-carboxylate [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The title compound, C11H8O4, features an almost planar molecule (r.m.s. deviation = 0.033 Å for all non-H atoms). In the crystal, the molecules are linked via C-H...O hydrogen bonds, forming two-dimensional networks lying parallel to (1-21)

Enhancement of Tc by Sr substitution for Ba in Hg-2212 superconductor [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
The Ba substitution by Sr has been studied in two Hg-2212 series: Hg2(Ba(1-y)Sr(y))2YCu2O8-d and Hg2(Ba(1-y)Sr(y))2(Y0.80Ca0.20)Cu2O8-d. In both series a Tc enhancement of about 40 K is observed when Sr substitutes Ba from y = 0 to y = 1.0.
