Quantitative aspects in comprehensive two-dimensional gas chromatography
Journal of Chromatography A, 2007The effect of the amount of matrix compounds in comprehensive two-dimensional gas chromatographic (GC x GC) separation of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) was investigated. The second dimension column was overloaded by progressively increasing the matrix amount and the separation was evaluated by inspecting peak widths, asymmetries, resolution ...

Modulators for comprehensive two-dimensional gas chromatography
TrAC Trends in Analytical Chemistry, 2011Abstract The analytical benefits of comprehensive two-dimensional gas chromatography (GC × GC) methods have been exploited and emphasized in the past two decades. The unexpectedly complex nature of many real-world samples amenable to GC analysis has been elucidated through the enhanced resolving power of GC × GC.

Molecular interconversion behaviour in comprehensive two-dimensional gas chromatography
Journal of Chromatography A, 2004Comprehensive two-dimensional gas chromatography (GC x GC) is shown to provide information on dynamic molecular behaviour (interconversion), with the interconversion process occurring on both columns in the coupled-column experiment. The experiment requires suitable adjustment of both experimental conditions and relative dimensions of each of the ...

Considerations on Orthogonality Duality in Comprehensive Two-Dimensional Gas Chromatography
Analytical Chemistry, 2011The term "orthogonal" in comprehensive two-dimensional gas chromatography (GC × GC) has a double sided meaning as it stands for a separation resulting from the combination of two independent retention mechanisms (Giddings, J. C. J. High Resolut. Chromatogr. 1987, 10, 319) but also for a 2D separation where the components are evenly distributed over the

Image background removal in comprehensive two-dimensional gas chromatography
Journal of Chromatography A, 2003This paper describes a new technique for removing the background level from digital images produced in comprehensive two-dimensional gas chromatography (GCxGC). Background removal is an important first step in the larger problem of quantitative analysis.

Multidimensional and Comprehensive Two-Dimensional Gas Chromatography
2014The analysis of many complex samples requires a performance which conventional one-dimensional (1D) GC cannot provide. In multidimensional GC (MDGC) selected fractions of the GC eluate are online subjected to a second GC separation. This is a useful technique when only one, or a few, target analyte has to be determined.

Pulsed flow modulation comprehensive two-dimensional gas chromatography
Journal of Chromatography A, 2008Pulsed flow modulation (PFM) is based on higher flow rate time compression of the first GC column effluent, which prior to the injection into the second column is stored for a few seconds in a standard fused silica wide bore transfer line. We constructed the PFM device with two standard 1/16 in.

The writer of this review published in 1978 a three-part article on two-dimensional gas chromatography in the first three issues of this journal [1]. The review was written at a time when capillary column GC was still in its infancy. Commercial columns were (essentially) unavailable and sample introduction into capillary columns was done exclusively in

Application of comprehensive two-dimensional gas chromatography to sterols analysis
Journal of Chromatography A, 2008The applicability of comprehensive two-dimensional gas chromatography (GCxGC) for sterol analysis was investigated by separation and identification of endogenous sterols in standards, and spiked in human urine. The modulation temperature was optimized to achieve the best separation and signal enhancement.

This work presents the development of a simple and efficient analytical protocol for the direct enantioselective resolution of sugars. A racemic mixture of the C3 sugar d,l-glyceraldehyde and the C5 monosaccharides d,l-arabinose, d,l-ribose, d,l-xylose, and d,l-lyxose was subjected to derivatization with trifluoroacetic anhydride, and corresponding ...
