Energy Absorption of Macrocomposite Laminates

open access: yes, 2000
PhDThe aim of this project was two-fold. Firstly to provide an understanding of the behaviour of SMC when subjected to drop weight impact and secondly to investigate the effect of a surface layer of a metallic material (stainless steel, aluminium ...

Recurrent Hypothermia and Autonomic Dysfunction Secondary to Shapiro Syndrome

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT A 44‐year‐old man presented with recurrent hypothermia, diaphoresis and hypertension. Extensive investigation for infectious, inflammatory, metabolic and endocrine aetiologies was negative. MR scan of the brain demonstrated no lesions but revealed callosal dysgenesis, consistent with Shapiro syndrome.

Optical Evaluation on Delamination Buckling of Composite Laminate with Impact Damage

open access: yesAdvances in Materials Science and Engineering, 2014
The delamination buckling and growth behaviors of a cross-ply composite laminate with damage induced by low velocity impact are investigated optically using three-dimensional digital image correlation (3D-DIC) method.

Peripheral Neutrophil Activation and Extracellular Trap Formation in Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
Markers of neutrophil activation are increased in plasma during ALS, and markers of NET formation associate with ALS survival. ABSTRACT Objectives Peripheral neutrophil levels in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) inversely correlate with survival, suggesting a role for neutrophils in disease progression.

Experimental investigation on impact and after-impact compression (AIC) behavior of foam core composite panels

open access: yes
This study investigates the impact and after-impact compression behavior of sandwich structures with carbon fiber composite face-sheets consisting of various polymeric core structures. In particular, the performance of polypropylene foam core with closed

Plasma EV Proteomics Identifies ECM Remodeling and Inflammatory Proteins LUM and C7 as Candidate Biomarkers in FSHD

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Facioscapulohumeral muscular dystrophy (FSHD) is one of the most debilitating and common muscular dystrophies. Despite its severity, no approved therapy exists for FSHD patients. However, several therapeutic candidates are currently under development, and some have recently entered clinical trials, marking the need for reliable ...

Predicting the Compression-After-Impact (CAI) strength of damage-tolerant hybrid unidirectional/woven carbon-fibre reinforced composite laminates

open access: yes, 2018
The evaluation of Compression-After-Impact (CAI) strength is of great significance in the design of composite aerostructures. This paper presents a model for the numerical simulation of Compression-After-Impact (CAI) of hybrid unidirectional (UD)/woven ...

Clinical Practice Guideline for Evaluation and Management of Peripheral Nervous System Manifestations in Sjögren's Disease

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective Sjögren's disease is an autoimmune disorder that can impact multiple organ systems, including the peripheral nervous system (PNS). PNS manifestations, which can exist concurrently, include mononeuropathies, polyneuropathies, and autonomic nervous system neuropathies.
