PREDICTION OF COMPRESSION-AFTER-IMPACT (CAI) STRENGTH OF CFRP LAMINATED COMPOSITES
In order to predict CAI strength of IM7/8552 composite laminate ([45/-45/0/90]3s), the SoutisFleck model, that mathematically replaces microbuckling/kinking of the 0°-plies with a through-thickness line crack, was used. The model requires a damage area, reduced properties in the damage site and in-plane stress distribution near the damage site.

Objective Somatic items used in depression assessments can potentially overlap with symptoms related to physical illness, including systemic sclerosis (SSc). No studies have looked at whether somatic depression items may be influenced by diffuse versus limited SSc disease subtypes, which are associated with varying degrees of symptom presentation.

Objective We examined whether 18 months of strength training in individuals with knee varus alignment and medial tibiofemoral osteoarthritis (OA) reduced knee joint loads during walking compared to an attention control group. Methods This study was a secondary analysis of a randomized clinical trial that compared the effects of strength training to a ...

Damage and strain rate optical characterisation of standard and tufted non crimp fabric carbon composites for Meso-scale impact models [PDF]
As global warming is a prime concern to the wellbeing of the planet, lighter planes are a requirement to reduce CO2 emissions. Light structures made of carbon epoxy composite materials are of particular interest but are sensitive to impacts such as

Compression, impact and residual strength after impact properties of graphene/fiberglass/epoxy multiscale composites [PDF]
: The effect of graphene nanoplatelets (GNPs), graphene oxide (GO), and reduced-graphene oxide (rGO) on compression, impact and residual strength after impact properties of glass-fiber reinforced polymer composites (GFRPs) were examined.
