Computational Color Constancy: Survey and Experiments
Computational color constancy is a fundamental prerequisite for many computer vision applications. This paper presents a survey of many recent developments and state-of-the-art methods. Several criteria are proposed that are used to assess the approaches.

A comparison of computational color constancy Algorithms. II. Experiments with image data
IEEE Transactions on Image Processing, 2002We test a number of the leading computational color constancy algorithms using a comprehensive set of images. These were of 33 different scenes under 11 different sources representative of common illumination conditions. The algorithms studied include two gray world methods, a version of the Retinex method, several variants of Forsyth's gamut-mapping ...

We introduce a context for testing computational color constancy, specify our approach to the implementation of a number of the leading algorithms, and report the results of three experiments using synthesized data. Experiments using synthesized data are important because the ground truth is known, possible confounds due to camera characterization and ...

Computational Color Constancy-Based Backdoor Attacks
2023 International Symposium on Image and Signal Processing and Analysis (ISPA), 2023Deep neural networks (DNNs) have become an integral part of many computer vision tasks. However, training complex neural networks requires a large amount of computational resources. Therefore, many users outsource training to third parties. This introduces an attack vector for backdoor attacks. These attacks are described as attacks in which the neural

Edge-Based Color Constancy [PDF]
International audienceColor constancy is the ability to measure colors of objects independent of the color of the light source. A well-known color constancy method is based on the gray-world assumption which assumes that the average reflectance of ...

A quarter of a century ago, the first systematic behavioral experiments were performed to clarify the nature of color constancy-the effect whereby the perceived color of a surface remains constant despite changes in the spectrum of the illumination.

Color matching algorithm based on computational 'color constancy' theory
Proceedings 1999 International Conference on Image Processing (Cat. 99CH36348), 2003This paper describes a new color appearance matching method based on color constancy theory. In order to achieve good color appearance matching between different color devices such as a CRT-monitor and a printer, whose whites are quite different, the method recovers the hypothetical surface reflectances of objects and the hypothetical spectral power ...

Filters & Lumination: Creating multi-illuminant images for computational color constancy
Proceedings of the 2023 8th International Conference on Machine Learning Technologies, 2023White-balancing is a very important process for anyone who deals with photography. It is present in every digital camera, and it has a significant influence on how an image will look. It removes the chromatic effect of scene illumination so that the final image looks as though it is illuminated by a perfectly white light.

Computational colour constancy
Proceedings 15th International Conference on Pattern Recognition. ICPR-2000, 2002The colour response of a camera or of the human eye is confounded by illumination. The colours recorded under yellow and blue illuminants are respectively more yellowish and bluish than they ought to be. Removing colour bias due to illumination is called colour constancy.
