The Abl1 tyrosine kinase is a key player in doxorubicin-induced cardiomyopathy and its p53/p73 cell death mediated signaling differs in atrial and ventricular cardiomyocytes

open access: yesJournal of Translational Medicine
Background Doxorubicin is an important anticancer drug, however, elicits dose-dependently cardiomyopathy. Given its mode of action, i.e. topoisomerase inhibition and DNA damage, we investigated genetic events associated with cardiomyopathy and searched ...

Antinociceptive and Anti‐inflammatory Effect of Nicandrin B Isolated From Datura ferox in Zebrafish

open access: yesChemistry &Biodiversity, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Nicandrin B (Nic B), a withanolide isolated from Datura ferox leaves, was investigated for its antinociceptive and anti‐inflammatory effects in adult zebrafish (Danio rerio). Animals treated with Nic B (4, 20, and 40 mg/kg) showed no toxicity and maintained normal locomotor activity.

Boosting Antibiotic Efficacy of Azole Drugs against Methicillin‐Resistant Staphylococcus aureus by Coordination to Rhenium Carbonyl Complexes

open access: yesChemBioChem, Accepted Article.
In this study, a library of rhenium di‐ and tricarbonyl complexes featuring various antimicrobial azoles as monodentate ligands was synthesized and characterized. Their antimicrobial activity was evaluated against both methicillin‐sensitive (MSSA) and methicillin‐resistant (MRSA) Staphylococcus aureus, and selected compounds were also assessed for ...

Gold‐Dithiocarbamato Glycoconjugates as Potential Anticancer Agents: Design, Physico‐Chemical Characterization and In Vitro Biological Activity

open access: yesChemBioChem, Accepted Article.
In order to develop new metal‐based glycoconjugates as potential anticancer agents, three gold(III)‐dithiocarbamato glycoconjugates of the type [AuIIIBr2(SSC‐Inp‐GlcN)] (Au3‐5), their gold(I)‐phosphine counterparts [AuI(SSC‐Inp‐GlcN)(PPh3)] (AuP3‐5) and gold(I)‐carbene analogues [AuI(SSC‐Inp‐GlcN)(Et2BzImy)] (AuC3‐5) (Inp: isonipecotic moiety; GlcN ...

The Role of Simulation Science in Public Health at the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry: An Overview and Analysis of the Last Decade

open access: yesToxics
Environmental exposures are ubiquitous and play a significant, and sometimes understated, role in public health as they can lead to the development of various chronic and infectious diseases. In an ideal world, there would be sufficient experimental data

Dextran‐Assisted Biomimetic Fabrication of CdSe:Eu QDs With Enhanced Biocompatibility and Stability

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
Dextran‐templated CdSe:Eu quantum dots were synthesized and coated with citrate or APTES to enhance stability and reduce cytotoxicity. Structural, optical, and biological evaluations demonstrated their potential for cellular imaging and theragnostic applications. Abstract A dextran templated biomimetic synthetic approach was applied for the preparation

Novel 4,5‐Dihydrothiazole‐Phenylpiperazine Derivatives: Synthesis, Docking Studies and Pharmacological Evaluation as Serotonergic Agents

open access: yesChemMedChem, EarlyView.
The synthesis of a new series of 4,5‐dihydrothiazol‐2‐ylphenylpiperazine derivatives as serotoninergic ligands is described and tested for their affinity toward 5‐HT1A, 5‐HT2A,and 5‐HT2C and selected for further in vivo assays to determine their functional activity. The pharmacological studies highlight that among the developed derivatives, FG‐7 and FG‐

The Role of Five‐Membered Aromatic Rings Containing N and O in Modulating Bile Acid Receptors: An Overview

open access: yesChemMedChem, EarlyView.
Several derivatives incorporating five‐membered aromatic rings are described in this review as bile acid receptor modulators, particularly targeting the farnesoid X receptor and the G protein‐coupled bile acid receptor 1. This review provides a comprehensive analysis of patents and literature that is useful to support researchers in the design of new ...

Sustainable Synthesis, Characterization, Cellular Effects of Gold Nanoparticles and Their Applications as Therapeutics in Cancer Therapy

open access: yesChemPlusChem, EarlyView.
Gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) are widely used in biomedicine, electronics, catalysis, and environmental science. Conventional synthesis relies on harsh chemicals, driving interest in eco‐friendly methods using plants, bacteria, fungi, and algae. Biomolecules like polyphenols, proteins, and fatty acids aid nanoparticle synthesis under mild conditions. This
