Photo-Sketching: Inferring Contour Drawings From Images [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Workshop/Winter Conference on Applications of Computer Vision, 2019
Edges, boundaries and contours are important subjects of study in both computer graphics and computer vision. On one hand, they are the 2D elements that convey 3D shapes, on the other hand, they are indicative of occlusion events and thus separation of ...

Mathoid: Robust, Scalable, Fast and Accessible Math Rendering for Wikipedia

open access: yes, 2014
Wikipedia is the first address for scientists who want to recap basic mathematical and physical laws and concepts. Today, formulae in those pages are displayed as Portable Network Graphics images. Those images do not integrate well into the text, can not

RAD50 missense variants differentially affect the DNA damage response and mitotic progression

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
RAD50 incorporates into the MRN complex and initiates the DNA damage response. Furthermore, RAD50 promotes mitotic progression. RAD50 missense variants capable of forming an MRN complex supported the DNA damage response and mitotic features to different extents in complementation experiments, indicating these functions are separable and might impact ...

Approximate Bayesian Image Interpretation using Generative Probabilistic Graphics Programs [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The idea of computer vision as the Bayesian inverse problem to computer graphics has a long history and an appealing elegance, but it has proved difficult to directly implement.

Tangent Images for Mitigating Spherical Distortion [PDF]

open access: yesComputer Vision and Pattern Recognition, 2019
In this work, we propose "tangent images," a spherical image representation that facilitates transferable and scalable 360 degree computer vision. Inspired by techniques in cartography and computer graphics, we render a spherical image to a set of ...

Enteropathogenic E. coli shows delayed attachment and host response in human jejunum organoid‐derived monolayers compared to HeLa cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Enteropathogenic E. coli (EPEC) infects the human intestinal epithelium, resulting in severe illness and diarrhoea. In this study, we compared the infection of cancer‐derived cell lines with human organoid‐derived models of the small intestine. We observed a delayed in attachment, inflammation and cell death on primary cells, indicating that host ...

Plasmodium falciparum gametogenesis essential protein 1 (GEP1) is a transmission‐blocking target

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study shows Plasmodium falciparum GEP1 is vital for activating sexual stages of malarial parasites even independently of a mosquito factor. Knockout parasites completely fail gamete formation even when a phosphodiesterase inhibitor is added. Two single‐nucleotide polymorphisms (V241L and S263P) are found in 12%–20% of field samples.

3D computer graphics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
3D computer graphics (in contrast to 2D computer graphics) are graphics that utilize a three-dimensional representation of geometric data that is stored in the computer for the purposes of performing calculations and rendering 2D ...
