We report on a patient homozygous for a novel autosomal recessive loss‐of‐function CARD11 variant, with susceptibility to live attenuated virus (LAV) vaccines and impaired clearance of multiple naturally acquired respiratory viral infections. Inborn errors of immunity affecting the CARD11‐BCL10‐MALT1 (CBM) complex should be considered in individuals ...

Effect of cholesterol nucleation-promoting activity on cholesterol solubilization in model bile.
Human bile contains a factor with cholesterol nucleation-promoting activity that binds to concanavalin A-Sepharose. In this study we have investigated the effect of this activity on the dynamics of lipid solubilization in supersaturated model bile.

Effect of floor type on the performance, physiological and behavioural responses of finishing beef steers [PDF]
peer-reviewedBackground:The study objective was to investigate the effect of bare concrete slats (Control), two types of mats [(Easyfix mats (mat 1) and Irish Custom Extruder mats (mat 2)] fitted on top of concrete slats, and wood-chip to simulate deep ...

YTHDF1 shapes immune-mediated hepatitis via regulating inflammatory cell recruitment and response
Severe immune responses regulate the various clinical hepatic injuries, including autoimmune hepatitis and acute viral hepatitis. N6-methyladenosine (m6A) modification is a crucial regulator of immunity and inflammation.

This study showed dysregulated αβ T cell homeostasis with ongoing T cell activation and low‐grade inflammation in 5‐12‐year‐old CHD children who underwent early‐life cardiac surgery with thymectomy, characterized by reduced naïve T cells and increased memory/effector and senescent‐like T cells.

Myocardial hypothermia increases autophagic flux, mitochondrial mass and myocardial function after ischemia-reperfusion injury. [PDF]
Animal studies have demonstrated beneficial effects of therapeutic hypothermia on myocardial function, yet exact mechanisms remain unclear. Impaired autophagy leads to heart failure and mitophagy is important for mitigating ischemia/reperfusion injury ...

Cyperus rotundus L. (CR) and vinegar‐processed CR (VCR) were compared in mouse models of thioacetamide (TAA)‐induced acute and chronic liver injury. VCR exhibited better hepatoprotective effects than raw CR. Composition analysis revealed 35 components in VCR, among which α‐cyperone was present at higher levels than in raw CR.

Modulation of human lymphocyte function by C3a and C3a(70-77). [PDF]
Human C3a and the synthetic octapeptide C3a (70-77), which retains the activities of an anaphylatoxin, inhibit in a concentration-dependent manner the generation of leukocyte inhibitory factor (LIF) activity by human mononuclear leukocytes and T ...
