Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

Explorative study of blood urea nitrogen (BUN), serum estrogen, and conception rate (CR) in small-scale dairy farms based on quantity of feed concentrate consumed by the cattle

open access: yesТеория и практика переработки мяса
The purpose of this study was to measure the level of BUN in dairy cows and its influence on services per conception (S/C) rate, milk output, and the forage to concentrate (F/C) ratio.

The effect of Holstein-Friesian genotype and feeding system on selected performance parameters of dairy cows on grass-based systems of milk production in Ireland [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
End of project reportThe overall objective of this project was to assess, the effect of strain of Holstein-Friesian dairy cow, pasture-based feed system (FS) and their interaction on animal performance in terms of milk productivity and lactation profile,

Cell density–dependent nuclear‐cytoplasmic shuttling of SETDB1 integrates with Hippo signaling to regulate YAP1‐mediated transcription

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
At low cell density, SETDB1 and YAP1 accumulate in the nucleus. As cell density increases, the Hippo pathway is gradually activated, and SETDB1 is associated with increased YAP1 phosphorylation. At high cell density, phosphorylated YAP1 is sequestered in the cytoplasm, while SETDB1 becomes polyubiquitinated and degraded by the ubiquitin–proteasome ...

The Effects of Environmental and Management Factors on the Quality of the Corpus Luteum and Subsequent Conception Rates of Beef and Dairy Cows in South Africa

open access: yesLife
The corpus luteum (CL) controls the success of pregnancy. The current study investigated the effects of some environmental and management factors on the development of the CL and the subsequent impact on conception rates of beef and dairy cows in South ...

Marx, Globalization, and the Falling Rate of Profit: A Critical Study. [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper argues that Marx’s views on globalization and its supposed inevitability underwent a substantial evolution and revision after the publication of the Communist Manifesto.

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.
