miRNA‐29 regulates epidermal and mesenchymal functions in skin repair

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
miRNA‐29 inhibits cell‐to‐cell and cell‐to‐matrix adhesion by silencing mRNA targets. Adhesion is controlled by complex interactions between many types of molecules coded by mRNAs. This is crucial for keeping together the layers of the skin and for regenerating the skin after wounding.

Dynamics between order and chaos in conceptual models of glacial cycles

open access: yes, 2013
The dynamics of glacial cycles is studied in terms of the dynamical systems theory. We explore the dependence of the climate state on the phase of astronomical forcing by examining five conceptual models of glacial cycles proposed in the literature.

Spot‐14 and its paralog Spot‐14R regulate expression of metabolic and thermogenic pathway genes in murine brown and beige adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Spot‐14 and Spot‐14R play distinct roles in regulating metabolism in brown and beige adipocytes. While both influence lipid and glucose pathways, Spot‐14 uniquely controls thermogenic gene expression. This dual regulation balances energy storage and heat production, highlighting potential therapeutic targets for obesity and metabolic disorders. Spot 14

Reverse Engineering Ontology to Conceptual Data Models [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2004
Ontologies facilitate the integration of heterogeneous data sources by resolving semantic heterogeneity between them. This research aims to study the possibility of generating a domain conceptual model from a given ontology with the vision to grow this generated conceptual data model into a global conceptual model integrating a number of existing data ...

Conceptually Diverse Base Model Selection for Meta-Learners in Concept Drifting Data Streams [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2021
Meta-learners and ensembles aim to combine a set of relevant yet diverse base models to improve predictive performance. However, determining an appropriate set of base models is challenging, especially in online environments where the underlying distribution of data can change over time.
