Flexural Behavior of a 30-Meter Full-Scale Simply Supported Prestressed Concrete Box Girder

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2020
Compared with scaled-model testing, full-scale destructive testing is more reliable since the test has no size effect and can truly record the mechanical performance of the structure.

Theory and Field to Determine the Construction of Bridge and Tunnel Linked Segment

open access: yesAdvances in Civil Engineering, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
Bridge–tunnel linked sections characterized by ultra‐small clear distances and steep slopes pose significant construction risks due to strong spatial constraints and complex mechanical interactions between adjacent underground structures. In such conditions, excavation method selection becomes a critical factor governing construction safety and ...

An investigation into the usefulness of a method of analysis for straight, uniform-section, box-girder bridge decks with side cantilevers

open access: yes, 1991
Bibliography: leaf 110.Maisel and Ro11, in a technical report for the London Cement and Concrete Association, proposed a method of analysis, in the form of an extension of simple beam theory, which is suitable for application to straight, rectangular ...

Study on the Crack Propagation Behavior and Patterns of High‐Speed Railway Bridges Under High‐Speed Train Loading

open access: yesAdvances in Civil Engineering, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
This study focuses on simply supported railway box girder bridges with pre‐existing cracks under high‐speed train loading. A vehicle–bridge coupled vibration model is established, and three‐dimensional dynamic stress intensity factors at the crack tip under various loading conditions are obtained using the interaction integral method.

Temperature Records in Concrete Box-Girder Segment Subjected to Solar Radiation and Air Temperature Changes

open access: yesIOP Conference Series: Materials Science and Engineering, 2020
This paper presents the experimental results of a full-scale concrete box-girder segment subjected to ambient thermal loads. The experimental segment was instrumented with 62 thermocouples to measure the concrete temperatures in different locations and a

The Effect and Mechanical Mechanism of Intermediate Diaphragms in Prefabricated T‐Beam Bridges

open access: yesAdvances in Civil Engineering, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
Current bridge design codes stipulate that prefabricated T‐beam bridges must include intermediate diaphragms, with spacing not exceeding 10 m. However, the construction of these diaphragms entails extensive overhead work, elevated safety risks, and significant challenges in quality control.

Reliability Assessment of Simply Supported Beam Bridge Structural Performance Based on Load Tests

open access: yesAdvances in Civil Engineering, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
Currently, bridge load tests use the verification coefficient to evaluate the structural performance of bridges in China, but this method is unsuitable. This paper presents a method that utilizes reliability to compare the actual bridge structural performance with the designed performance. Reliability functions for strain and deflection in load testing

Optimum design of composite prestressed concrete girder railway bridges

open access: yes, 2012
This paper deals with the formulation of design optimisation of pretsressed concrete bridges. The bridge is of a slab-on-girder type, hence modeled as an equivalent orthotropic plate.
