Grancalcin (GCA), a myeloid‐derived protein, is enriched in gingival tissues of periodontitis patients and mouse models. Through interactions with CD44 and activation of MYH9, GCA promotes NF‐κB signaling and exacerbates periodontal inflammation and bone loss.

Oscillation constant for modified Euler type half-linear equations
Applying the modified half-linear Prufer angle, we study oscillation properties of the half-linear differential equation $$ [ r(t) t^{p-1} \Phi(x')]' + \frac{s(t)}{t \log^pt} \Phi(x) = 0, \quad \Phi(x)=|x|^{p-1}\hbox{sgn} x.

We perform large-eddy simulations to study a cavitating flow over a two-dimensional hydrofoil section—a scaled-down profile (1:13.26) of guide vanes of a Francis turbine—using the Schnerr–Sauer cavitation model with an adaptive mesh refinement in ...

Oscillations of empirical distribution functions under dependence
We obtain an almost sure bound for oscillation rates of empirical distribution functions for stationary causal processes. For short-range dependent processes, the oscillation rate is shown to be optimal in the sense that it is as sharp as the one ...

A Bayesian framework for verification and recalibration of ensemble forecasts: How uncertain is NAO predictability? [PDF]
Predictability estimates of ensemble prediction systems are uncertain due to limited numbers of past forecasts and observations. To account for such uncertainty, this paper proposes a Bayesian inferential framework that provides a simple 6-parameter ...

Glaucoma, a major cause of blindness, involves retinal ganglion cell (RGC) degeneration. This study shows growth hormone‐releasing hormone receptor (GHRHR) deficiency preserves RGC survival and restores vision, unlike activation which only aids survival.

Non-oscillation of periodic half-linear equations in the critical case
Recently, it was shown that the Euler type half-linear differential equations $$ [ r (t) t^{p-1}\Phi(x')]' + \frac{s (t)}{ t \log^p t} \Phi(x) = 0 $$ with periodic coefficients r and s are conditionally oscillatory and the critical oscillation ...

Feedback in a cavity QED system for control of quantum beats
Conditional measurements on the undriven mode of a two-mode cavity QED system prepare a coherent superposition of ground states which generate quantum beats.

Trained Memory of Uterine Macrophages Improves Subsequent Pregnancy Outcomes
This study identifies that pregnancy imprints a durable, pregnancy‐specific form of trained immune memory in uterine macrophages, marked by the emergence of LILRB3+/PIR‐B+ cells that expand across gestations, acquire a tolerogenic and metabolically rewired phenotype, and actively protect against inflammatory pregnancy loss in mice.
