From the quantum relative Tsallis entropy to its conditional form: Separability criterion beyond local and global spectra [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review A, 2014
The quantum relative Renyi entropy of two density matrices was recently extended when the two do not commute, from which a conditional entropy is identified. This is here extended to the corresponding Tsallis relative entropy and to its conditional form.

Relations Between Tsallis and Kaniadakis Entropic Measures and Rigorous Discussion of Conditional Kaniadakis Entropy [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Sciences, 2015
Tsallis and Kaniadakis entropies are generalizing the Shannon entropy and have it as their limit when their entropic indices approach specific values. Here we show some relations existing between Tsallis and Kaniadakis entropies. We will also propose a rigorous discussion of the conditional Kaniadakis entropy, deduced from these relations.Read Complete

Tsallis Entropy and the transition to scaling in fragmentation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
By using the maximum entropy principle with Tsallis entropy we obtain a fragment size distribution function which undergoes a transition to scaling. This distribution function reduces to those obtained by other authors using Shannon entropy.

Viral Infection Risk Driven by Ecological Trait Susceptibility to Habitat Heterogeneity. [PDF]

open access: yesMol Ecol
ABSTRACT Traits for host exploitation that drive the transmission of disease and pathogen emergence are expressed in heterogenous environments. To advance the development of accurate forecasting of infection risk and emergence, determining constraints on ecological strategies for resource use by pathogens over a range of host communities is essential ...

Performance Degradation Assessment of Rotary Machinery Based on a Multiscale Tsallis Permutation Entropy Method

open access: yesShock and Vibration, 2021
Methods based on vibration analysis are currently regarded as the most conclusive means for fault diagnosis and health prognostics in rotary machinery. However, changing working conditions mean that the vibration signals originating from rotary machinery

Response‐adaptive randomization for multiarm clinical trials using context‐dependent information measures

open access: yesBiometrical Journal, Volume 65, Issue 8, December 2023., 2023
Abstract Theoretical‐information approach applied to the clinical trial designs appeared to bring several advantages when tackling a problem of finding a balance between power and expected number of successes (ENS). In particular, it was shown that the built‐in parameter of the weight function allows finding the desired trade‐off between the ...

On reduced Tsallis relative entropy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2023
A variational expression of the reduced relative entropy is given. A reduced Tsallis relative entropy is defined and some results are given. In particular, the convexity of the reduced Tsallis relative entropy is given.

Inverse Exponentiated Lomax Power Series Distribution: Model, Estimation, and Application

open access: yesJournal of Mathematics, Volume 2022, Issue 1, 2022., 2022
In this paper, we introduce the inverse exponentiated Lomax power series (IELoPS) class of distributions, obtained by compounding the inverse exponentiated Lomax and power series distributions. The IELoPS class contains some significant new flexible lifetime distributions that possess powerful physical explications applied in areas like industrial and ...

Tsallis Mutual Information for Document Classification

open access: yesEntropy, 2011
Mutual information is one of the mostly used measures for evaluating image similarity. In this paper, we investigate the application of three different Tsallis-based generalizations of mutual information to analyze the similarity between scanned ...

Estimation of Entropy for Log‐Logistic Distribution under Progressive Type II Censoring

open access: yesJournal of Nanomaterials, Volume 2022, Issue 1, 2022., 2022
Entropy is a useful indicator of information content that has been used in a number of applications. The Log‐Logistic (LL) distribution is a probability distribution that is often employed in survival analysis. This paper addresses the problem of estimating multiple entropy metrics for an LL distribution using progressive type II censoring.
