Colorectal cancer‐derived FGF19 is a metabolically active serum biomarker that exerts enteroendocrine effects on mouse liver

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Meta‐transcriptome analysis identified FGF19 as a peptide enteroendocrine hormone associated with colorectal cancer prognosis. In vivo xenograft models showed release of FGF19 into the blood at levels that correlated with tumor volumes. Tumoral‐FGF19 altered murine liver metabolism through FGFR4, thereby reducing bile acid synthesis and increasing ...

Flavanomarein Protects HT22 Cells by Inhibiting LPS-induced Inflammatory Activation of BV2 Cells

open access: yesShipin gongye ke-ji
Objective: To investigate the protective effects of flavonomaside on HT22 mouse hippocampal neuronal cells by inhibiting the inflammatory response induced by lipopolysaccharide (LPS) in mouse microglia (BV2) and elucidate the underlying mechanisms ...

Analytical results for a conditional phase shift between single-photon pulses in a nonlocal nonlinear medium

open access: yes, 2017
It has been suggested that second-order nonlinearities could be used for quantum logic at the single-photon level. Specifically, successive two-photon processes in principle could accomplish the phase shift (conditioned on the presence of two photons in ...

Identification of serum protein biomarkers for pre‐cancerous lesions associated with pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This work identified serum proteins associated with pancreatic epithelial neoplasms (PanINs) and early‐stage PDAC. Proteomics screens assessed genetically engineered mice with abundant PanINs, KPC mice (Lox‐STOP‐Lox‐KrasG12D/+ Lox‐STOP‐Lox‐Trp53R172H/+ Pdx1‐Cre) before PDAC development and also early‐stage PDAC patients (n = 31), compared to benign ...

Conditioned Medium From The Inflammatory Microenvironment Regulated Functional Pulp Regeneration

open access: yesInternational Dental Journal
Aim or purpose: The extracellular microenvironment is critical for cell function and tissue regeneration. This study explored the effects of an inflammatory-conditioned medium on stem cells from the apical papilla (SCAP) for functional pulp regeneration.

Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 increases metastatic potential and aggressiveness in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aldehyde dehydrogenase 1A1 (ALDH1A1) is a cancer stem cell marker in several malignancies. We established a novel epithelial cell line from rectal adenocarcinoma with unique overexpression of this enzyme. Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 led to increased invasive capacity and metastatic potential, the inhibition of proliferation activity, and ultimately ...

Dimethyl fumarate combined with cisplatin at subcytotoxic doses sensitizes cervical cancer toward ferroptosis and apoptosis through GSH restriction and p53 (re)activation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) reduces growth of HPV‐positive cervical cancer spheroids and induces ferroptosis in cervical cancer cells via blocking SLC7A11/Glutathione (GSH) axis. Combination of subcytotoxic doses of DMF and cisplatin (CDDP) further suppresses spheroid growth and drives cell death in 2D culture models.

Targeted modulation of IGFL2‐AS1 reveals its translational potential in cervical adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cervical adenocarcinoma patients face worse outcomes than squamous cell carcinoma counterparts despite similar treatment. The identification of IGFL2‐AS1's differential expression provides a molecular basis for distinguishing these histotypes, paving the way for personalized therapies and improved survival in vulnerable populations globally.

Analysis of the proteome and the secretome of animal trypanosomes : a standardized analytical method to look for new molecular targets [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
The causative agents of animal trypanosomosis are various species of protozoan parasites belonging to the genus Trypanosoma, among which T. congolense and T. evansi are the major pathogenic species. The extra cellular position of the trypanosomes implies

Heidegger and Cavell on artistic medium in the post-medium condition

open access: yesJournal of Aesthetics & Culture
The article proposes a theory of artistic medium through a conjoint reading of Martin Heidegger and Stanley Cavell. My thesis is that the concept of the medium such reading yields is a necessary dimension of the idea of art still operative in the contemporary “post-medium condition,” in which the material bases of works are no longer bound to ...
