Capacity limits of MIMO channels with co-channel interference [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
We consider both analytically and via Monte Carlo simulation the variation of the information theoretic capacity of multiple-input, multiple output (MIMO) communication systems.

Electrocardiographic interference and conductance volume measurements

open access: yesJournal of Biomedical Science and Engineering, 2009
The conductance catheter technique enables continuous ventricular volume measurements based on the electrical conductance of blood within the ventricular cavity. However, ventricular excitation also produces a measurable electrical signal within the ventricular cavity.

Association Between Individualized Education for Kidney Replacement Therapy Modality Selection and Peritoneal Dialysis Initiation: A Cross‐Sectional Study

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Peritoneal dialysis (PD) is an established home‐based kidney replacement therapy (KRT), but its uptake remains low in Japan. We evaluated whether individualized education in a dedicated outpatient clinic was associated with the initiation of PD.

High electrically conductive composites of Polyamide 11 filled with silver nanowires: Nanocomposites processing, mechanical and electrical analysis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Highly conductive composites of silver nanowires and semicrystalline polyamide 11 for different content were prepared. A newmethod was developed to introduce nanowires: a combination of solventway and an extrusion process.

A Brief Introduction in the Mitigation of Conducted-Electromagnetic Interference Issues

open access: yesRenewable Energies, Environment and Power Quality Journal, 2023
This paper deals with the mitigation of the influence of electromagnetic conducted emissions in low voltage grids, which can be performed using different filtering methods. Due to the relatively young age of the electromagnetic compatibility domain, the specific terminology is not yet fully consecrated.

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

Microbiome−host proteostasis crosstalk—An emerging perspective on mechanisms and interventions toward healthy longevity

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Proteostasis and the gut microbiota play a key role in shaping host physiology. Microbiota‐derived metabolites, vitamins, and RNA modulate host proteostasis. Findings from model systems, including C. elegans, indicate microbes can either stabilize or disrupt host proteostasis.
