Mycobacterial cell division arrest and smooth‐to‐rough envelope transition using CRISPRi‐mediated genetic repression systems

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
CRISPRI‐mediated gene silencing and phenotypic exploration in nontuberculous mycobacteria. In this Research Protocol, we describe approaches to control, monitor, and quantitatively assess CRISPRI‐mediated gene silencing in M. smegmatis and M. abscessus model organisms.

Promiscuous stimulation of HSP70 ATPase activity by parasite‐derived J‐domains

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The malaria parasite Plasmodium falciparum exports three highly homologous yet functionally divergent J‐domain proteins into human erythrocytes. Here, we show that J‐domains isolated from all three proteins effectively stimulate the ATPase activity of both endogenous host and exported parasite HSP70 chaperones.

Confidence regions in nonlinear regression

open access: yes, 2013
The aim of this thesis is a comprehensive description of the properties of a nonlinear least squares estimator for a nonlinear regression model with normally distributed errors and thorough development of various methods for constructing confidence ...

Hybrid confidence regions based on data depth

open access: yes, 2012
We consider the general problem of constructing confidence regions for, possibly multi-dimensional, parameters when we have available more than one approach for the construction. These approaches may be motivated by different model assumptions, different

A method for in silico exploration of potential glioblastoma multiforme attractors using single-cell RNA sequencing

open access: yesScientific Reports
We presented a method to find potential cancer attractors using single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) data. We tested our method in a Glioblastoma Multiforme (GBM) dataset, an aggressive brain tumor presenting high heterogeneity.

Genome-wide linkage analysis of QTL for growth and body composition employing the PorcineSNP60 BeadChip

open access: yesBMC Genetics, 2012
Background The traditional strategy to map QTL is to use linkage analysis employing a limited number of markers. These analyses report wide QTL confidence intervals, making very difficult to identify the gene and polymorphisms underlying the QTL effects.

Applicability of mitotic figure counting by deep learning: a development and pan‐cancer validation study

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
In this study, we developed a deep learning method for mitotic figure counting in H&E‐stained whole‐slide images and evaluated its prognostic impact in 13 external validation cohorts from seven different cancer types. Patients with more mitotic figures per mm2 had significantly worse patient outcome in all the studied cancer types except colorectal ...

Multidimensional confidence regions for pareto, exponential, and normal distributions

open access: yes, 2017
The two classical approaches in estimation theory are point estimation and confidence interval estimation. A confidence interval contains the unknown parameter of interest of a parametric family of distributions with a probability greater than or equal ...

Distribution of Toxoplasma gondii among cattle in certain regions of Ukraine

open access: yesUkrainian Journal of Veterinary Sciences, 2022
Toxoplasma gondii is the agent of toxoplasmosis, which is common to both humans and cattle. That is why the goal of work was to study the spreading of the agent of toxoplasmosis among cattle in certain regions of Ukraine, which in turn will make it ...
