Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).

Experimental Study on Radial Cementation Strength of the First Cementing Interface in HTHP Wells

open access: yesShiyou jixie, 2021
In view of the stress status of cement ring in high-temperature and high-temperature(HTHP)wells, a set of full-size HTHP cement ring sealing integrity evaluation test equipment was developed. The influence of confining pressure and casing pressure on the

Effect of Confining Pressure, Relative Density and Shear Strain on the Poisson’s Ratio of Clean Sand [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
In comparison to other dynamic properties of soil, Poisson’s ratio is mostly considered as an elasti c constant. The effect of different para meters on the Poisson’s ratio of soil is neglected in most of the ...

Synchronized oscillations and acoustic fluidization in confined granular materials

open access: yes, 2018
According to the acoustic fluidization hypothesis, elastic waves at a characteristic frequency form inside seismic faults even in the absence of an external perturbation.

SHPB Testing and Analysis of Bedded Shale under Active Confining Pressure

open access: yes, 2020
Shale gas is the most important new energy source in the field of energy, and its exploitation is very important. The research on the dynamic mechanical properties of shale is the premise of exploitation.

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

PARP inhibitors elicit distinct transcriptional programs in homologous recombination competent castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PARP inhibitors are used to treat a small subset of prostate cancer patients. These studies reveal that PARP1 activity and expression are different between European American and African American prostate cancer tissue samples. Additionally, different PARP inhibitors cause unique and overlapping transcriptional changes, notably, p53 pathway upregulation.

Pressure-confined clumps in magnetized molecular clouds

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 1992
A substantial fraction of the mass of a giant molecular cloud (GMC) in the Galaxy is confined to clumps which occupy a small fraction of the volume of the cloud. A majority of the clumps in several well-studied GMCs (Ophiuchus, Orion G, Rosette, Cepheus OB3) are not in gravitational virial equilibrium, but instead are confined by the pressure of the ...

Characterizing the salivary RNA landscape to identify potential diagnostic, prognostic, and follow‐up biomarkers for breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study explores salivary RNA for breast cancer (BC) diagnosis, prognosis, and follow‐up. High‐throughput RNA sequencing identified distinct salivary RNA signatures, including novel transcripts, that differentiate BC from healthy controls, characterize histological and molecular subtypes, and indicate lymph node involvement.

Effect of confining pressure on mechanical behavior of methane hydrate-bearing sediments

open access: yesPetroleum Exploration and Development, 2011
Synthesized gas hydrate in lab was mixed with kaoline to form core samples, so as to simulate the hydrate-bearing sedimentary layers in the seabed. Under conditions of different confining pressure, triaxial compressive tests were conducted on hydrate ...
