Confocal micro-Raman spectroscopy of black soap films

The Journal of Chemical Physics, 1998
Black soap films from aqueous solutions of sodium dodecyl sulphate are studied by micro-Raman confocal spectroscopy. At the end of the draining process films of different thicknesses are obtained depending on the experimental conditions: Working in a closed humidified chamber leads to common black films while, under evaporation or in the presence of ...

Confocal Raman spectroscopy applied to microemulsions and nanoemulsions

Current Opinion in Colloid & Interface Science
Raman spectroscopy is a light scattering technique in which a molecule scatters incident light at different wavelengths depending on the chemical structure of the analyte, from a high-intensity laser light source. The Raman scattered light is detected to create the Raman spectrum, which is unique to the chemical compounds present in the sample, acting ...

Confocal mapping of myelin figures with micro-Raman spectroscopy

Applied Physics A, 2017
We employ confocal micro-Raman spectroscopy (CMRS) with submicron spatial resolution to study the myelin structures (cylindrical lamellae) composed of nested surfactant C12E3 or lipid DMPC bilayers. The CMRS mapping indicates that for a straight C12E3 myelin, the surfactant concentration increases with the myelin width and is higher in the center ...

Dual wavelength optical tweezers for confocal Raman spectroscopy

Optics Communications, 2005
We describe the use of dual optical tweezers to manipulate micron-size particles in and out of the focus of a confocal Raman microscope. One of the beams excites the Raman spectrum while the second tweezers improves the sensitivity of the technique and also allows for the manipulation of the environment of the trapped objects.

Depth profiling of polymer films by confocal Raman spectroscopy

Macromolecular Symposia, 2003
AbstractConfocal Raman microspectroscopy has many potential applications in the study of polymer‐solvent interactions, including the determination of solvent and polymer‐solvent complex depth profiles. This contribution focuses on preventing the formation of polymer‐solvent complexes, using surface chemical modification of PVC films.

Confocal Microprobe Raman Spectroscopy for Investigating the Electrochemical Interface

Journal of Electrochemistry, 2001
The invention of the surface enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) in the mid of 1970s, opened an entirely new and very promising area. However, it was found that SERS of practical application in electrochemistry can only be found on noble metal surfaces, such as Ag, Au and Cu that exhibit huge surface enhancement.

Early detection of zinc deficit with confocal Raman spectroscopy

Journal of Raman Spectroscopy, 2018
AbstractZinc deficit is one of the most important reasons for botanical disease. It can occur in many forms, for example, as rice blast, bacterial stripe, bacterial blight, and false smut. All these diseases will greatly lead to lower yields during rice harvest.
