Characterization of Graphene by Confocal Raman Spectroscopy
2018Confocal Raman spectroscopy has emerged as a key characterization technique in graphene research, as with this technique important material characteristics can be obtained locally and noninvasively. In this chapter, the fundamentals of the Raman spectrum of graphene are reviewed and the utilization of Raman spectroscopy for graphene characterization is

Confocal micro-Raman spectroscopy of black soap films
The Journal of Chemical Physics, 1998Black soap films from aqueous solutions of sodium dodecyl sulphate are studied by micro-Raman confocal spectroscopy. At the end of the draining process films of different thicknesses are obtained depending on the experimental conditions: Working in a closed humidified chamber leads to common black films while, under evaporation or in the presence of ...

Near-confocal cavity-enhanced Raman spectroscopy for multitrace-gas detection
Optics Letters, 2008Simultaneous detection of multitrace gas is still a challenge. Near-confocal cavity-enhanced Raman spectroscopy is proposed and demonstrated for simultaneous detection of multitrace gas. With a 200 mW incident laser, the excitation power of >9 W forms at two foci of the near-confocal cavity owing to the beam being reflected 50 times.

Non-Invasive Assessment of Ocular Pharmacokinetics Using Confocal Raman Spectroscopy
Journal of Ocular Pharmacology and Therapeutics, 1999A Laser Scanning Confocal Raman Spectroscopy (LSCRS) system was applied for the non-invasive quantification of the transport of a drug through the rabbit cornea in vivo. Employing LSCRS, the changes in the amplitude of a drug-specific Raman signal were assessed over time in the tearfilm and corneal epithelium of the living rabbit eye (n = 6), after ...

Raman Spectroscopy and Confocal Raman Imaging in Mineralogy and Petrography
2010Raman spectroscopy has long been used in geosciences and a wealth of data and publications are available. The majority of this information originates from point measurements using micro-Raman setups. With the application of confocal Raman imaging, additional analytical possibilities arise with respect to analyzing the three-dimensional spatial ...

Depth profiling of polymer films by confocal Raman spectroscopy
Macromolecular Symposia, 2003AbstractConfocal Raman microspectroscopy has many potential applications in the study of polymer‐solvent interactions, including the determination of solvent and polymer‐solvent complex depth profiles. This contribution focuses on preventing the formation of polymer‐solvent complexes, using surface chemical modification of PVC films.

Confocal Raman spectroscopy of single poly(3-methylthiophene) nanotubes
Journal of Applied Physics, 2007We present the confocal Raman spectra of isolated single poly(3-methylthiophene) (P3MT) nanotubes fabricated by the electrochemical polymerization method. A complete polymerization to the level of individual nanotubes has been confirmed by the clear observation of all characteristic Raman modes from each P3MT nanotube.

Confocal mapping of myelin figures with micro-Raman spectroscopy
Applied Physics A, 2017We employ confocal micro-Raman spectroscopy (CMRS) with submicron spatial resolution to study the myelin structures (cylindrical lamellae) composed of nested surfactant C12E3 or lipid DMPC bilayers. The CMRS mapping indicates that for a straight C12E3 myelin, the surfactant concentration increases with the myelin width and is higher in the center ...

Early detection of zinc deficit with confocal Raman spectroscopy
Journal of Raman Spectroscopy, 2018AbstractZinc deficit is one of the most important reasons for botanical disease. It can occur in many forms, for example, as rice blast, bacterial stripe, bacterial blight, and false smut. All these diseases will greatly lead to lower yields during rice harvest.

In vivo confocal Raman spectroscopy: The window into the skin
International Journal of Cosmetic ScienceAbstractDevelopment of in vivo confocal Raman spectroscopy (ICRS) methodology over the last 20 years has enabled previously unavailable capability to acquire molecular concentration gradients across the stratum corneum (SC), at the micron level and in a clinical setting. Professor Tony Rawlings has been a driving force in SC research for over 30 years,
