Planarizations and maps taking lines to linear webs of conics

open access: yes, 2011
Aiming at a generalization of a classical theorem of Moebius, we study maps that take line intervals to plane curves, and also maps that take line intervals to conics from certain linear systems.Comment: 9 ...

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Factoring with Pell conics

open access: yesLietuvos Matematikos Rinkinys, 2004
In the paper the Pell conics method for factoring integers, based on observations of Lemmermeyer [2, 3], is presented explicitly. Moreover, a similar algorithm for factoring polynomials over finite fields is given.

Conics in normed planes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
We study the generalized analogues of conics for normed planes by using the following natural approach: It is well known that there are different metrical definitions of conics in the Euclidean plane. We investigate how these definitions extend to normed

Central potentials on spaces of constant curvature: The Kepler problem on the two-dimensional sphere $S^2$ and the hyperbolic plane $H^2$

open access: yes, 2005
The Kepler problem is a dynamical system that is well defined not only on the Euclidean plane but also on the sphere and on the Hyperbolic plane. First, the theory of central potentials on spaces of constant curvature is studied.

In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...

Sobre la parametrización de cónicas con rotación (la manera fácil) (On parameterization of conics with rotation (the easy way))

A gradient-type deformation of conics and a class of Finslerian flows

open access: yesAnalele Stiintifice ale Universitatii Ovidius Constanta: Seria Matematica, 2017
The aim of this paper is to produce new examples of Riemannian and Finsler structures having as model a scalar deformation of conics inspired by the scaling transformation.

Enumerative geometry for real varieties

open access: yes, 1996
We discuss the problem of whether a given problem in enumerative geometry can have all of its solutions be real. In particular, we describe an approach to problems of this type, and show how this can be used to show some enumerative problems involving ...

Infrared laser sampling of low volumes combined with shotgun lipidomics reveals lipid markers in palatine tonsil carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Nanosecond infrared laser (NIRL) low‐volume sampling combined with shotgun lipidomics uncovers distinct lipidome alterations in oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC) of the palatine tonsil. Several lipid species consistently differentiate tumor from healthy tissue, highlighting their potential as diagnostic markers.
