Heat Transfer Correlations for compressible flow in Micro Heat Exchangers [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The paper discusses the definition of dimensionless parameters useful to define a local correlation for convective heat transfer in compressible, micro scale gaseous flows.

Simulation of Coupled Heat Transfer in Rotor/Stator Cavity of the Microturbine [PDF]

open access: yesProblems of the Regional Energetics, 2019
The work is d to improving methods for calculating the cooling system of a microturbine with a rotor on air bearings. When designing gas turbines, it is important to integrate gas-dynamic calculations with thermal finite-element calculations. In practice,

Real‐time assay of ribonucleotide reductase activity with a fluorescent RNA aptamer

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ribonucleotide reductases (RNR) synthesize DNA building blocks de novo, making them crucial in DNA replication and drug targeting. FLARE introduces the first single‐tube real‐time coupled RNR assay, which enables isothermal tracking of RNR activity at nanomolar enzyme levels and allows the reconstruction of allosteric regulatory patterns and rapid ...

On the convergence rate of the Dirichlet-Neumann iteration for unsteady thermal fluid structure interaction [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
We consider the Dirichlet-Neumann iteration for partitioned simulation of thermal fluid-structure interaction, also called conjugate heat transfer. We analyze its convergence rate for two coupled fully discretized 1D linear heat equations with jumps in ...

Conserved structural motifs in PAS, LOV, and CRY proteins regulate circadian rhythms and are therapeutic targets

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cryptochrome and PAS/LOV proteins play intricate roles in circadian clocks where they act as both sensors and mediators of protein–protein interactions. Their ubiquitous presence in signaling networks has positioned them as targets for small‐molecule therapeutics. This review provides a structural introduction to these protein families.

Methodology of numerical coupling for transient conjugate heat transfer [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
This paper deals with the construction of a conservative method for coupling a fluid mechanics solver and a heat diffusion code. This method has been designed for unsteady applications. Fluid and solid computational domains are simultaneously integrated

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Numerical investigation of forced convection heat transfer from square cylinders in a channel covered by solid wall: Conjugate situation [PDF]

open access: yesFME Transactions, 2017
Flow over two isothermal offset square cylinders in a confined channel is simulated for different Reynolds number to reveal the forced convection heat transfer from the heated square cylinders to the ambient fluid for the fixed blockage ratio.

Numerical analysis of a fin-tube plate heat exchanger with winglets [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
In this presented work, numerical analysis of heat transfer and flow characteristic using longitudinal vortex generators (LVGS) in fin and flat tube heat exchanger has been presented. Conjugate heat transfer 3D numerical model has been developed and
