An Improved Lattice Boltzmann Method for Simulating High-Conductivity-Ratio Conjugate Heat Transfer

open access: yesEnergies
This paper presents an improved lattice Boltzmann method for simulating conjugate heat transfer. In conventional lattice Boltzmann methods, the coupling between thermal conductivity and relaxation time limits numerical stability for high-conductivity ...

Study on Heat Exchange Structure Design and Propulsion Performance of Solar Thermal Thruster

open access: yesInternational Journal of Aerospace Engineering, 2022
This paper designed a platelet heat exchanger in the solar thermal thruster and analyzed the unsteady-state conjugate heat transfer characteristics between heat exchanger and propellant. The conjugate heat transfer (CHT) computational fluid dynamics (CFD)

Topology Optimization of Turbulent Flow Cooling Structures Based on the k-ε Model

open access: yesEntropy, 2023
Topology optimization (TO) is an effective approach to designing novel and efficient heat transfer devices. However, the TO of conjugate heat transfer has been essentially limited to laminar flow conditions only.

Multi-phase CFD-conjugate heat transfer for spray cooling in the non-boiling regime [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
A numerical study is described to predict, in the non-boiling regime, the heat transfer from a circular flat surface cooled by a full-cone spray of water at atmospheric pressure.

Simulation of Coupled Heat Transfer in Rotor/Stator Cavity of the Microturbine [PDF]

open access: yesProblems of the Regional Energetics, 2019
The work is d to improving methods for calculating the cooling system of a microturbine with a rotor on air bearings. When designing gas turbines, it is important to integrate gas-dynamic calculations with thermal finite-element calculations. In practice,

Flow and Temperature Fields in Cooling Devices with Embedded Serpentine Tubes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
The turbulent flow (Re = 5124) and conjugate heat transfer in heat-sink designs of the tube-on-plate type are numerically investigated. The cooling configurations employ a serpentine tube partially (or fully) embedded inside the plate.

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Microchannel heat transfer with slip flow and wall effects [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Cataloged from PDF version of article.Analysis is presented for conjugate heat transfer in a parallel-plate microchannel. Axial conduction in the fluid and in the adjacent wall is included.

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.
