PARP inhibitors elicit distinct transcriptional programs in homologous recombination competent castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PARP inhibitors are used to treat a small subset of prostate cancer patients. These studies reveal that PARP1 activity and expression are different between European American and African American prostate cancer tissue samples. Additionally, different PARP inhibitors cause unique and overlapping transcriptional changes, notably, p53 pathway upregulation.

A numerical method for multiphysics simulations based on hierarchical Cartesian grids

open access: yesJournal of Fluid Science and Technology, 2015
We present a numerical method based on hierarchical Cartesian grids for the simulation of multiphysics problems, here in particular for the conjugate heat transfer between a fluid and a solid.

Adenosine‐to‐inosine editing of miR‐200b‐3p is associated with the progression of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
A‐to‐I editing of miRNAs, particularly miR‐200b‐3p, contributes to HGSOC progression by enhancing cancer cell proliferation, migration and 3D growth. The edited form is linked to poorer patient survival and the identification of novel molecular targets.

Validation of a coupled heat, vapour and liquid moisture transport model for porous materials implemented in CFD [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Moisture-related damage is an important issue when looking at the performance of building envelopes. In order to accurately predict the moisture behaviour of building components, building designers can resort to Heat, Air and Moisture (HAM) models.

Predictors of response and rational combinations for the novel MCL‐1 inhibitor MIK665 in acute myeloid leukemia

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study characterizes the responses of primary acute myeloid leukemia (AML) patient samples to the MCL‐1 inhibitor MIK665. The results revealed that monocytic differentiation is associated with MIK665 sensitivity. Conversely, elevated ABCB1 expression is a potential biomarker of resistance to the treatment, which can be overcome by the combination ...

Survivin and Aurora Kinase A control cell fate decisions during mitosis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aurora A interacts with survivin during mitosis and regulates its centromeric role. Loss of Aurora A activity mislocalises survivin, the CPC and BubR1, leading to disruption of the spindle checkpoint and triggering premature mitotic exit, which we refer to as ‘mitotic slippage’.

Numerical investigation of conjugate heat transfer in a partitioned cavity using NiO nanofluid and firefly algorithm

open access: yesEngineering Applications of Computational Fluid Mechanics
The fluid's heat transfer properties must be effectively utilized to create efficient heat exchangers. In various existing studies, the application of forced convection leads to pressure drops in conjugate heat transfer systems due to the nanoparticles ...

Numerical Simulation of Solar Radiation and Conjugate Heat Transfer through Cabin Seat Textile

open access: yesAUTEX Research Journal, 2020
The solar radiation and the conjugate heat transfer through the cabin seat fabric were investigated numerically with a focus on a comparative analysis of various fabric solar reflectance or reflectivity (SR) and inlet cooling air velocity.

Heat and mass transfer in air-fed pressurised suits [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Air-fed pressurised suits are used to protect workers against contamination and hazardous environments. The specic application here is the necessity for regular clean-up maintenance within the torus chamber of fusion reactors.
