Growth/Differentiation Factor 15 Promotes a Pro‐Regenerative Response in Chondrocytes Upon Cartilage Injury

open access: yesMedComm
Posttraumatic osteoarthritis (PTOA) is a special form of osteoarthritis (OA), developing after joint injuries. Except for some minor clinical differences, no biologic marker has yet been identified to distinguish idiopathic OA (IOA) from PTOA.

A synthetic benzoxazine dimer derivative targets c‐Myc to inhibit colorectal cancer progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Benzoxazine dimer derivatives bind to the bHLH‐LZ region of c‐Myc, disrupting c‐Myc/MAX complexes, which are evaluated from SAR analysis. This increases ubiquitination and reduces cellular c‐Myc. Impairing DNA repair mechanisms is shown through proteomic analysis.

Histological Changes in the Pregnant, Lactating and Involuting Mammary Gland of the Guinea Pig [PDF]

open access: yes, 1985
The histological changes of mammary glands of guinea pigs during mid and late pregnancy, 1 day after parturition, peak lactation and 2, 3, 4, 8 and 12 days after weaning were studied. Rapid growth of the glandular tissue occurred towards late pregnancy

Patient‐specific pharmacogenomics demonstrates xCT as predictive therapeutic target in colon cancer with possible implications in tumor connectivity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study integrates transcriptomic profiling of matched tumor and healthy tissues from 32 colorectal cancer patients with functional validation in patient‐derived organoids, revealing dysregulated metabolic programs driven by overexpressed xCT (SLC7A11) and SLC3A2, identifying an oncogenic cystine/glutamate transporter signature linked to ...

Tumor and germline testing with next generation sequencing in epithelial ovarian cancer: a prospective paired comparison using an 18‐gene panel

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Genetic testing in epithelial ovarian cancer includes both germline and tumor‐testing. This approach often duplicates resources. The current prospective study assessed the feasibility of tumor‐first multigene testing by comparing tumor tissue with germline testing of peripheral blood using an 18‐gene NGS panel in 106 patients.
